    Just my luck..... turbo gods?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Car is 150k miles on stage 2 on stock turbo ,has turbo back milltek exhaust, forge dvs, silicone hosesn 034 tbb

So had a guy interested in buying my stage 2 tomorrow for 6900.... swapped in my 93 octane tune so it could compinsate for tomorrow when its test driven.

On high way did 1 3rd gear pull then all of a sudden felt like the rev limiter but was only at 5800. Shifter to next gear and didnt feel any power so looked in rear view and a bunch of white smoke.

Car started to run like shit going up the next hill so pushed in clurch and the boost gauge was jumping between 0 and -12.
Then as i slowed down half a mile down the road the vac went down to the normal -20 like it should.

Gave a little gas comming from a stop and its hitting 0 psi and still smoking.

Also if i give a small rev it sounds like somethings rattling

Ill post up some vids. It does sound louder under car (maybe cause exhaust? Im guessing my manifolds.broke up and went into the turbos ) But its smoking alot and still 0 boost. My fuel trims are fine and its idleing ok.

That car wants you to staaaay!!!

Sorry about your trouble man. That sucks so bad. You can stick camera up the downpipes and down the charge pipes to check turbos. Sounds like turbo issues to me.

That's a fuck ton of blow by. You should add a catch can. That will tell you for sure if it's coming from turbos or normal blowby.

I pulled intercooler off a 100k k03 car and they didn't have nearly the same amount of oil.

Ya it does sound like turbos, just weird both at once? I pulled 12.99 2 months ago so doubt i was on 1 turbo. And since theni been on stock tune. Till yesterday i swapped over to my stage 2 tune.

0 boost and smoke is wats realy making me believe turbo.

Im gunna try and get a cam in the o2 sensor bung and also the inlets of turbos

Yeah I'm going to install a catch can that will be next move. Car has been running strong on 20lbs no smoke or anything. I can see that I also have some oil leaking onto my ic hose wonder if it has anything to do with it I can't picture it slipping in

Whats the odds both blow at same time? Makes me think i been on one turbo for awhile but idk..... i was going down to 12 psi towards redline instead of what i thought should be 15.

Also when logging actual vs requested boost it always took 2 or 3 seconds for the actual to get up to the requested.

And lastly. The boost always wanted to surge if hitting the throttle to hard from low rpm(go from 18 to 15 to 18 to 15)

Could this all be becauae i was only on 1 turbo i really cant belive i would have been on 1 turbo pulling that 1/4 mile time, but then again i was shifting as soon as i felt a loos of power to stay in the powerband so maybe i shifted around the problem since one turbo can still produce the boost early on just not later???

Its possible maybe it was just getting worse and worse and the other was over compensating for it.

Look at it this way: At least you didnt pass this lemon on to the next guy. That would have pissed me off as a buyer. But it also sucks that you have to either fix it or sell it as is.

I know you are about to have a little one and probably dont have the time, but maybe you can find a pair of rebuilt K03's to throw in for the next buyer and raise the selling price since you can use that as a selling chip. If I had a set laying around I would gladly send them to you. You should be able to drop the engine attached to the subframe/suspension in about 3-4 hours (if you have a lift). Replace turbos, drop car back onto engine, presto chango!

Eaxactly, i was happy it happens now not after he bought it or wen he was testing car lol.

And exactly my problem i never pulled a motor never mind this complicated. And unfortunately no freaking lift!!

Im basically fucked no one will pay close to 5k for a car with blown turbos the guy that was going to check out car was tyong to go extra low. I could easily part out and make a good chunk but i would never do that. I cant let another hit the scrap yard

It's really not that bad, only took me (and a buddy for an hour) 4 hrs total to pull completely. No lift, just jacks, stands, and a cherry picker. I also dropped the motor/suspension/tranny all in one piece. Just make sure you have the front up pretty high.

Yea, you are right. But thats ok you dont need a lift. I am sure a couple of guys will help you out over there in... NY? 88ninety9 says he will do it for you in 4 hours as long as you have stands and a cherry picker. ^^

Lmao ya i doubt they wwill make it there, and shawn im in gloucester ma, not many on the b5 forums around this way , luckly i do have a big enough level driveway. I might just start tearing into it thisweekend and have a buddy come over another day when its ready to come out,

How high are you saying off the ground? A foot and a half in front? Gow high should rear be?

When you grab tbe motor with cherry picker what do you grab by? And then you pull the hole thing out the front with axles and steering nuckels and evrything attatched still ?

Sorry for stupid questions im overwhelmed thinking about how big of a bitch this is gunna be.

    So......
    - F21s with inlets for $1800
    - Upgrade to stage 3- $250
    - Installation hardware another $80
    - Coolant, oil, powersteering fluid, $100?
-And $3000 for the other 10 things ill need along the way right??? Lol

On a real note. Am i missing anything? Already have timing belt and related components and vcg and all other seals done a year ago so thats good. It has a milltek turbo back exhaust already, and forge dvs already. All motor/tranny snub mount already done. And tunes coverd since i bought flashloader before.

I know with the car in stage3- condition with new turbos it should be easier to sell at a few hundred more then what i just was guna sell it stage 2 for 6900.

No hha I meant it wants to stay with you, therefore it blew it's turbos to do just that. Seriously though that sucks dude I hope you get it all sorted out, honestly pulling the engine on these cars are easy compared to others, I think some big turbos will cheer u up.

Picture is worth a thousand words haha. I'd say about 20-24" area at the stands. Back wheels were also about 1" off the ground. Hook the cherry picker up on the hooks on the heads. Make sure to get the picker with the balancer jig on it too. It will save you some headache.

I also used a jack on the tranny when I dropped and pulled it. Made life a little easier

Never get lazy and use what's available if you tape your car up. I used manilla tape and it took forever to get off

This is the best way I've found to pull the motor and transmission: Don't have to drop the subframe and get an alignment after

Awsome thanks alot! Il prob have 1000 more questions lol

And cj, i watched that video and read through the intructions but its confusing knowing hes typeing about puling motor and transmission but then he only pulls the motor

And shawn, im not positive what im going to doin but im almost positive im better off just going f21s then selling car, i have people emailing me and texting me offering between 2500 to 4000 for the car as is but i cant go that low so i might as well fix it then drive it or sell it

Got it on jack stands today ( very hard with the reiger sideskirts, gota drive up on 2x6 rhen slip the low profile jack under it and put another 2x6 between jack and car to get just enough clearance)
    That's why I live on 2x6's ;)

Looks like you've been busy! I truly think it'd be your best bet. Really, iirc just brake lines, gas lines, vac lines, wiring harness. Aside from tranny downpipes, etc. Once you get in there it'll fly by

I havent made a decision, i obv will want to drive it a lil with new turbos, and since putting more money into car and time it will make me want to keep it.

Just sucks i sold a bunch of parts(srm intercoolers,034 bi pipes, jhm efk, x34 intake, jhm shifter) lol, but that will pay for turbos.
