Post How to fix A4 B7 Fuel Gauge not showing Full

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Cause:
    A) Cluster needs calibration to adapt to sensor info
    B) Fuel Pump Sending Unit is not working properly

    Fix A):
    - Buy "VAG-COM KKL 409.1" Cable from ebay ~$5 (Those are usually Arduino chipset. so here are the driver http://www.microcontrols.org/arduino..._switcher=true)
    - Download VCDS-Lite (http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/download/index.php)

    ## If you have Mac, you could download VMWare Fusion. Then find a Windows (XP or 7 etc) image.

OPTION 1 - Full Tank Calibration
Step1) Fill up gas tank to full
Step2) Open VCDS-Lite > Click 17 - Instrument > Type 33 in first box > Click Read > Type in 2nd box "65535" (press up/down if SAVE button is greyed out) > SAVE

    ## That should fix it. But if not, try Option 2

OPTION 2 - Update Fuel Level Sensor to higher
Step1) Open VCDS-Lite > Click 17 - Instrument > Type 30 in first box > Click Read > Press UP button on 2nd line until needle reach to FULL

    Fix B):
    - There are plenty of instructions out there on replacing Fuel Pump. However, i'll probably upload a youtube video soon to show how to remove the fuel lines.
    - You could opt to replace just the Fuel Sending Unit instead of entire pump but it might require soldering.

    Hope that helps

I had this issue and it ended up being the float in the gas tank (drivers side under the rear bench seat) was getting caught on some hose. Moved the hose and problem fixed.
