Is this normal? Appears to be corrosion under the hood

The other day when I had my hood up, I noticed something under the hood close to the windshield on the passenger side of the car that looks like it is corroding. I didn't take the plastic off to look closer but wondering if anyone can identify what this is and if it is normal. This is a 2015 Q7.

The first image is it up close, the second a bit further away and third the farthest away to help give perspective where it is under the hood.

    Thank you!

I believe that is the location of the ECU (Engine Control Unit). The ECU top cover is cast aluminum and it can look pretty nasty from rain water, etc. I'd lift up the plastic cover for a better look..

It's normal for the ECU to have that nasty look, it's exposed to the elements and if you are in a winter area salt from the roads in winter. No need to worry, that's why it's under the cover LOL
