Ashtray delete

Hey gang...where the heck to you get the ashtray delete storage piece? I've searched, thought I found a part number, but nada.

Does your ash tray have the silver piece with the little spots for cigarettes? If so, that can be removed and you are left with just a plain plastic insert which is perfect for coins, pogs, drugs, etc.

They dont make a oem delete for it, you can remove the silver portion of it but it just leaves a plastic hole. There is this guy who I believed used a part from a jetta/golf and retro fitted it into place, looks great and I am currently looking in on it. I want somewhere I can put my phone when I drive.

The install is well done, but I agree with the others--I don't like open spaces to collect stuff, and no loose coins or anything else that could rattle around either. Pull the chrome insert out and line it with black felt or something, but keep the cover.

Ya, we're streamlining our coins in Canada...no pennies (round up or down at cash register)...nickels are next. I heard they were considering a $5 coin. Idiots. The loonie and toonie are bad enough.

I just battled to get the PO's loose change out of the ashtray mechanism, so I wondered about getting rid of it entirely.
