    2016 S7 - DRL's Not Working When Unlocking Car

    Hi!

I'm new to posting on the forum but I was wondering if someone could help? I searched but couldn't find anything.

I just bought a new North America 2016 S7 and did a few vagcom updates. The one I'm having issues with is DRL's. I used vagcom to only have DRL's on when unlocking the car. And it worked great.

Now after a day...when I un-lock the car the DRL's do not come on all the time - only at night (from what I've witnessed). Nothing comes on in the headlight during the day. I ran a scan and there are no fault codes for the car.

Does anyone know if the DRL's only work in low light when you unlock the car or should it work in every light situation? I'm assuming it has something to do with the light sensors? Just looking for help / confirmation...thanks!!!

did you check the MMI? I think there's a setting for lighting when unlocking the car.

Hey Joe...thanks for responding. I did check the MMI and everything is checked to have DRL's on.

This might sound like a dumb response since I have no experience with VAG coding, but is it possible they still require the headlight switch to be in "auto" which senses light before engaging? Or did you change that in VAG (I assume you can and did), but maybe something to check.

My lights are set to Auto :) The only thing I did with Vagcom was block the headlights from turning on with DRL's when you lock/unlock the car...so now only the LED's will shine instead of both the headlights and LED's.

I did a lot more searching last night and there are mixed messages on whether the DRL's stay on all the time (no matter the lighting situation) when you unlock the car and others say that they won't come on when you hit the unlock when there is too much sunlight. I'm just wondering what the right answer is so I know if I need to worry or not :)

Anyone know if that's true or not?
