    H&R street coilovers making noise

Hey guys, I've been lurking in the forums for a while posting now and then. I have had the HR coilovers on my b8 for a while now and there is a noise coming from the rear passenger coilover. It does not happen right off the bat when driving but after a while and once I hit a big bump it starts making a clunking noise. I just wanted to know if anybody has have a problem like this with the HRs and what do you guys think I should do. I know HR has a lifetime warranty but I am not the original owner so that might be a problem. I do want to keep them on but worst case scenario I will try to get sline suspension to go with my 19s rotors wheels. Any help/ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. What do you guys think? Thanks!

You might want to check the shock tower's nut which holds in place, the top hat to the shock body. In some cases when it's not torqued down correctly, it will make a noise that's only audible when the shock is fully compressed.

So it looks like the rear shock is leaking.. it's the only one leaking. Do they rebuild these or even sell them separate from a kit? Or would I have to get a whole new set up(which right now wouldn't work for me) any advice?

H&R coilovers have a 1-2 year (depending on the kit) warranty which is not transferable between owners. The good news is that replacement components are available for purchase, you're probably looking at $300-$400 to replace that corner.

You have to buy the replacement struts in pairs. Should still be around $400.

Yes quite a change to go from lifetime warranty to original purchaser to just 2 years.

Thanks for the input guys but now my question is.. if I get a new pair for 400 what's the chances of the other 2 not getting messed up, is it just better to go the other route and get a sline suspension from a member at the same price or even getting a solowerks set

You likely should replace the struts in pairs, the estimate I posted was for a single corner, remember MSRP on this kit is $1,580 ($1,580/4=$395). We sell the full kits for a pretty good discount which brings them down to $1,185. The individual component costs add up to more than the whole (which is the case with almost any product). For the money the H&R kits are still a great bang for the buck at this price range, there are many people still very happy with them even after years of service. You may consider buying a new kit to refresh everything and selling your used kit to recoup some of the costs. We carry the kits in stock here:

That change occurred somewhere around 2011-2012, the warranty cards included in each kit would outline the terms of coverage for anyone that owns a kit who is unsure of their warranty period.

"H&R Special Springs LP (“Seller”) warrants to the original retail purchaser (“Purchaser”) who holds title to the vehicle on which the Suspension Springs, Sway Bars and TRAK+® Wheel Spacers are originally installed will, when delivered, substantially conform to the respective written Product description furnished to Purchaser, and all Product(s) to be free from defects in material and workmanship, other than coatings, for the duration of the Purchaser’s ownership of the vehicle on which Products are installed.
Street Performance Coil Overs, Street Performance SS Coil Overs and Premium Performance Coil Overs are covered by a two (2) year warranty. RSS Coil Overs, RSS Ultra Low Coil Overs, RSS Plus Coil Overs, Cup Kits, Triple C Camber Adjustment Bolts, ETS Electronic Lowering Modules and Sway Bar Bushings are covered by a twelve (12) months warranty."
