02 Broadband gauge on OE Sensor?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is anyone aware of a gauge that can read the stock broadband/AFR values? Does an Aeroforce?

    TIA!

Anything that reads obd/can, but nothing that expects a dedicated sensor. So those digital vent things yes, but not most gauges since you can't tee the sensor

if you want to put a seperate gauge in , why not just weld on a bung and throw another sensor in ? seems simplest solution.

If the O2 data is more of a curiosity than a tool to use for tweaking, then the P3 gauge is just dandy and provides a look at the same OBD data that the ECU uses. It can also display a lot of other curiosities. Additionally, the P3 gauge has inputs for two optional analogue sensors for any 0-5v sensor signal, and an input for an optional analogue boost sensor. So even if you want a separate, dedicated O2 sensor then the P3 will work. My issue with the P3 is that you don't get multiple data at a glance like we can do with separate gauges. Pushing buttons to change the data display is not something I want to do while ripping through the autocross course.
If the data is critical to you then a new, dedicated sensor and gauge (a la iceman's suggestion) opens your selection to a wide variety of gauges - wideband and more.

Was trying to avoid that and spend the money for just that solution. Looking to see if a multi purpose gauge could do it.

I have a P3 and it doesn't show AFR. I believe the cycle is: boost/vac, coolant, IAT, Spark, EGT (calculated fake via the ECU), RPM, 0-60 time, battery volts.

    That's all I have on a P3 vent gauge.

Just because it can talk OBD/CAN doesn't mean it has been programmed / is capable of pulling that data. Was looking to validate with someone here if there is a gauge that can.

Not an option in the P3. Firmware update? Is that possible?

P3 V3 does, looks like you probably have P3 analog? So if you don't want a digital that reads off obd2, and you can't split it, then no. But if you're cool with digital there's plenty, I personally can't stand the read and refresh rate tho

V3... hrmmm. Wonder what version I have. Mine is digital and connects via OBD-II port.

The link is for a P3 V3 gauge and it doesn't list it; not that it's a conclusive list. Do you have one and it shows AFR?

No I welded one in and have a separate gauge that I fuckin hate. But I have seen plenty of p3s with lamda up, looks like there's been a couple versionsScreenshot_20231101_131925_Chrome.jpg

My P3 V3 reads AFR (or lamda). Not the same as true wideband, but the P3 is capable of displaying wideband with the addition of their $190 wideband sensor kit, which is pretty complete including the add-on bung to weld on. Do you have the V3 version of the P3? Here's what mine displays:
Boost with added P3 analog boost sensor, coolant temp, AFR (can be read in AFR or Lambda), vehicle speed, IAT, throttle angle, ignition timing, RPM, EGT, battery voltage, a shift light, 2 analog inputs to read any 0-5 volt linear output sensor, acceleration timers (0-60mph/0-100mph/60-130mph), braking timers (60-0mph/100-0mph).

Great info everyone - thank you!

Anyone know, offhand, how to tell what version P3 you have? I'm guessing I do not have a V3.

I'd like to find someone who can program a little rasberry pi computer to do this:

As far as the P3 goes, I don't know a button sequence to display the version, but here's the set up video for the P3 V3 gauge. Different car, but nearly identical to the B8 set up. If your set up menus are different than this then it's probably not a v3.

Looks like someone has built this with a Pi: https://bluewavestudio.io/community/...d.php?tid=2045

I didn't even know the config menu existed! Ya, I don't have a V3. I only have 5 or 6 settings that come up in the config menu.

    Wonder if there's a trade in-up option...?

I figured out I have a V2 gauge. It is based on the control box that is what the gauge and the OBD-II port plugs into.

Figured it out and spoke to P3 to confirm.

If you have a V2 gauge and you want AFR, you have to get the upgraded chip that you can install for the V2 gauge: https://www.p3cars.com/gauge-accesso...pack-software/

Customer-installable. This only reads out in AFR and not in Lambda.

Or you go with a V3 gauge and it has it included.

Excellent follow up, good news and a great $25 option. Heck, you'll get $25 worth of fun just from the 0-60 timer. The cats at P3 seem to know what they're doing.

I have the 0-60 timer in the V2. It's the other times you get too with the upgrade.

I'm debating on going V3 now though :D

Bah, just compared and with the upgraded chip, it's everything with the V3 for our B8 cars. Ordered and awaiting for it to come in! :)

    Update!

I got the Race chip from P3. Super simple to install. You go to the control box, crack it open, carefully pop out the old chip (recall the orientation before removal!), put the new one in, put it back together and you're good to go! Took me 10 mins at most.

I also got the analog sensor for vacuum/boost; took the time to run a vacuum line into the cabin and install the analog sensor. I'd rather have that now than what the ECU/MAP sensor is showing.

Now I have AFR on the gauge!

Heck of an upgrade for anyone with a v2; save money instead of getting a v3 for our platform.
