Bluetooth phone sound trouble - Much worse in 2016 model then my old 2011.

    6 months ago I went from a 2011 S4 to a 2016.

I make phone calls from the car and I find they people dont hear me as well in this car but the main thing that really bothers me is the bluetooth volume.

When driving on a highway even at max volume the sound from a call is not as lowed as it was in the other car.

I am using an iphone 6 and the volume is turned all the way up on the phone too

    Anyone else have this experience?

I think that there is a way to adjust the BT microphone sensitivity. But, you'll need to get into the green hidden menu to do it. Check out the VCDS thread for more info.

    Microphone is fine though.

If I am talking to someone on the phone and driving i can have the volume on 30 and I would still want to raise it more if I am on a highway.

Meanwhile the radio listening to talk on 15 is way loud enough.

Is it the same phone? I know for my Samsung S6, I can preset the bluetooth output volume (independent of the car volume). I have this set to one click below max. This setting allows bluetooth music volume to be approximately the same volume as listening to a CD, and for calls I generally need to be in the 20-25 range on the highway.

Same phone. Still have my iPhone 6 that I have had for both cars.

I have '15 B&O S4 and call volume is great (stays same as music volume) using my old Galaxy S3.

Did you go from an upgraded stereo in your '11 S4 to the base stereo in the '16?

Yes, I too drive the 2016 S4 with B&O sound system and I don't have any problems at all. I have my microphone sensitivity raised 2 notches above the default 12'0 clock setting.
Maybe its a one-off thing for you(?) Have you checked with the Audi service people if they have any answers?

FYI every iPhone I've came across doesn't get as loud (speaker on said phone, head phones, etc) compared to android. My wife has the iPhone 6 (prior a 5) I have the galaxy s5 (all android prior)

I know this might not totally answer your question but link up someone's android phone and try it, I'll bet money it's louder. Something in the iPhone tech limits the volume more even when you are at max volume on the phone, idk why? (Even when the phones volume limiter removed/adjusted)

I'd also try what the dude in the post above me mentioned. On my 2013 B8.5 about 25 for the overall volume screams.

Can I do this without Vagcom? I would need to find someone with it.

I had normal stereo in my 2011 and this one has the B&O.

any change would be nice. Radio volume on 15 for like howard stern talking is loud but on phone i can be talking to someone with it on 30 and its still not enough.

I was at Audi and totally forgot to ask and remembered about 20 min after i picked up my car :(

You don't need VAGCOM for this. This is where it is on my S4's MMI:

Main Menu > Telephone > Settings > Telephone Settings > Volume Settings > Microphone Input Level.

I have set it up at the 3'o clock position. Yours requirement might be different. So please adjust it accordingly.

I have the volume option in that menu up all the way and the microphone level mid way. Wouldnt microphone level not effect what I hear but what the other person hears?

I can't say why it's messy in your car but I get crystal clear audio on Bluetooth calls. It's time to visit the dealership for reasons other than the complimentary car wash lol

Car went in today and I told them. They gave me the we looked at it and we did not find any faults with it.

I literally put it on the highest volume I can and its still not that loud while im on a highway. Its not low but its def not loud enough as it should be.

Any suggestions I should tell them?

I spoke to the foreman and he said he would take down my VIN and look for any updates - He didnt think there was anything they could do but the car will be back there for a part they had to order so I will follow up - Still want suggestions.
