ok so i have an FTQ 01E with matching rear diff, and thats all. i wonder if anyone can help me put together a list of parts i need to make this work. i suppose i need a shift box and connecting arms, an appropriate drive shaft and some front and rear axles. can anyone help demystify this?

    thanks.

ok so are all 01e shift box and actuator arms the same? do i need a specific one for this trans? also are all rear drive shafts the same for b6 a4? i assume i need a cross member. this trans was in an a4 so i think the front and rear flanges would be the same as what i need.

anyone wanna confirm some of this?

I'm pretty sure the 01E transmission itself is the same for swap purposes. But there are a couple / few different versions of the shifters and linkages. I can't do a breakdown by memory, but I'd say when you buy the shift linkage, make sure you get a complete shift box with the linkage complete from one car. Then the linkage problem should be taken care of. Also, check the VSS place on the side of the trans, above/next to drivers side axle flange? The B6 had that change of where it got vehicle speed , at the axle vs. from the ABS unit. Also check the placement of the crank position sensor. I don't know why..for some reason it seems like I've read something about that being different either in dimension or placement.
But, aside from the trans/ rear diff I'd just go off the usual 01E swap parts list and use everything else from an A6..it's around here somewhere..

I got lucky and bought a complete kit from a 06 S4. If I had to piece it together I probably would have given up.

    Good Luck!
