1999 A6, won't start. Check engine light has been on for a while with code 0411 Secondary air injection. I have read that this won't prevent the car from starting. Prior to the no start the exhaust smelled like it was running rich. It was hesitating while in reverse on a decline. It hasn't bogged down or failed to start before.

Engine turns over.

I have tried the following:
1. Spark plugs are wet with fuel
2. Verified power to ignition coil
3. Verfied spark
4. Unplugged coolant temperature sensor
5. Unplugged MAF

I haven't checked timing, re adapted the throttle body, Tested the coil resistance, or checked the fuel pressure.

Any ideas?

I have read that the crank position sensor wouldn't allow the fuel pump to run if inoperable...
