    my suspension setup

Hello fellow Audi owners, I currently have ST. Coilovers installed on my 2009 Audi A4 Premium. However, living in the the CT and dealing with the shitty roads all over the east coast, I have decided to go back to the original OEM setup. I just have one issue going back to my oem suspension, I have 19" AG m590 wheels. I plan on still having them installed, but I honestly don't know if i'm going to like the gap between the wheels and the fenders/rear bumper.

The shop i contacted for the install said they have a 2014 S4 suspension for sale and was also told that it would fit on my A4. However, I do know the sport suspension springs are color coded for different weights, which made me wonder how low my car would sit given that my A4 is lighter then an S4 with a V6.

Basically I'm not looking for a huge gap, but also since i drive nearly 60 miles (round trip) on a shitty highway with pot holes everywhere, i do want the ride to be comfortable with a tasteful gap.

If i do go with the S4 suspension, would I be able to use my OEM A4 springs on the S4 struts/shocks? Or should I use my A4 OEM struts/stocks and buy lowering springs?

use the S4 shocks and buy lowering springs, that is the best option for what you have.

    - S4 shocks with A4 springs will not lower, ride quality will be good but you will just be on original A4 stock non-sport stock height
    - A4 shocks with lowering springs will work but only short term, after a year or so the shocks will wear out much quicker and ride quality will become worse than the STs are now, trust me i've been through that already.

with lowering springs, sport suspension is a must if you want it to be a good long term option. you can get the H&R OE springs or one of the other milder lowering springs, they lower about 1.2" from stock, the more aggressive ones are 1.5" and more drop, but those might be too aggressive and probably too low even for the S4 shocks long term.

I agree with armnloaded ... raise the ride height of the STs to see if your ride improves. I did this with my BC coilovers, 1/4 inch in front, 3/8 in the rear. Definite improvement in ride quality ... even the wife noticed.

It'd be worth a shot before you start spending more bucks.

If you want to go with an OEM setup, I'd suggest sport suspension rather than S4 to ensure that the car sits right. IIRC the spring rate on S4s is significantly different.

This is your best option if you can't raise the height on your ST's any more. DO NOT run s4 springs and expect a mild drop its almost the same height as stock with a4 springs.

Do you mean the shocks? You could raise up the ride height and buy new softer shocks if you wanted.

This is why I purchased fully adjustable coilovers, so I can soften it way up whenever I want, and make it hard as a rock when I feel like it.

My suspension in the rear rattles when I press on the brakes, and when I took my A4 in for a service, I asked about the rattle and was told my shocks were shot. I also bought these coilovers used with like 10k miles on it, so warranting them isn't possible.

So maybe you just need to get new shocks, all depends on what your trying to achieve.
