The Tire Rack messed up on me

I ordered the "Audi Reccomended" winter tire and wheel package over the phone from tire rack. They were 16 inch ASA JH3 rims with Dunlop SP Winter sport M3 tires. I specifically said do these wheels require wheel spaces to clear the calipers. I do not want wheel spacers. He said No, they only require new lugs and hub rings. So I went ahead and ordered them and I recieved them in less than 2 days which was great. Today, Saturday, I went and had them mounted by Tire Warehouse. 19.95 for a full tire rotation. Old ones off, new ones on. They tell me my car is ready, I got in and put it in reverse, and it didnt feel right, I wasnt rolling like I usually would, so I give a little gas but something is holding me back. I asked if there were wheel blocks under my tires and I was all clear. so I get out, wtf is going on, I took a look at my front wheels and below and behold they are right against the calipers. The guys at Tire Warehouse take a look at them and they say I need wheel spacers but they dont carry them. So Here I am stranded and pissed. the manger there asks me where I got them, I told him tire rack. He happens to have them on speed dial so I call and inform them that the wheel package I received do not fit correctly. "Oh we guarrantee fitment, what vehicle do you have" He looks it up and says, "well they should fit, are you sure they rub? Have you upgraded your brakes?" Everything is stock, so I get transfered to someone else and they tell me wheel spacers are needed. 3 mm and longer lugs, The lugs they did send me were the wrong ones. ok so I am mad now I have to have spacers, and they will ship them out monday and I will get them Wednesday at the earliest. not good enough for me, I have to pay again to have the wheels taken off an summer ones put back on and then go back next week and try again. I'm not paying twice. Tire rack was great about that though, they didnt hesitate to pay for the extra costs. I wanted the spacers overnighted, im not waiting longer for them, we're expecting snow in a few days. They didnt want to but then he caved and upgraded the spacers to overnight delivery. I really didnt want spacers on my car, and I still dont, but now I dont have a choice. I am still mad at the situation, but Tire Rack made it as right as they could. I wont hesitate to buy from Tire Rack in the future. I still think they are great. But what I dont get is this wheel and tire package has been out for a while now and they are just now finding out the wheels need spacers? How many people have purchased these rims and found out later that spacers are needed.?

I heard issues before about certain rims fitting and then youll get an s4 or 2 that for some reason has fitment issues with the same type of rim.

That might have sounded confusing so heres an example(hypothetical):

    >>My 18" Crimson rims fit my S4 and your S4 but then if we tried putting them on another persons S4 they wouldnt fit. <<

Something along the lines of that. Maybe its not tireracks fault? Do you know anyone with an S4 that maybe you can fit one rim on to see how it fits?
Im guessing that setup must have been ordered before without problems? Sorry u hadda go through all that. I hate when stuff like that happens.
