    B8.5 and newest V1

So I got rid of my old v1 and get a new used v1 which has the latest firmware. The problem I have now is with the random false laser. Problematic for me because I don't want to mess around with a laser detection. But it seems to happen often enough for me to start ignoring it.

I have it mounted to the left of the rear view mirror. The troubleshooting guide by Valentine says it could be set off by the dash screen, rain sensor or laser cruise. I definitely wasn't using cruise at the times it's going off. Any ideas? The unit defective or just get the escort max?

I have the newest one and the only false lasers I get are from a toyota or lexus behind me. It's only certain models though and doesn't happen often. I don't use cruise so I can't comment on that.

I have found that Volvo, Infinity, some Mazda's and some Fords use a laser based cruise control and this will set off the V1 once they are close enough. If you didn't know some of the blind spot radar systems including Audi will cause intermittent alerts, although I can't remember which band it uses. There are some configuration options one can use to mitigate these alarms but not much one can do about the laser alerts. A laser jammer is a better tool for laser detection.
