Oil pressure oil big red one

This light came on last night, oil had 1500-2000 miles on it. It came on then went away for 30 minutes then came on more frequently. This morning it came on in 5 minutes then stayed on. I shut the car off, and turned it back on then it didn't come back on. I then proceeded to change the oil and filter had liqui moly synthonol. Switched to t6 rotella 5w40. It stayed off for about 20 minutes then came on for 10 seconds. Then it was off for the rest of the ride home. The ride home was about 15 minutes. The next thing i'm going to do is get another oil pressure senor any ideas what it could be? Should i invest in an oil pressure gauge. Trying everything before a new oil pump.

I'd also switch to Mobil 1 Euro. T6 has been proven to not be the best although I know a ton of guys on here swear by it. Switch out your sensor for a new one and see if that fixes your problem

I used to run mobile one euro0w40 had no problems with it. What about mobile 5w40? (Summer now). I drove for 30 minutes, and the light came on multiple times but just goes off in 5-10 seconds. I think if it was low pressure I would know everything sounds fine. Sometimes when i go hard on it kind of, it comes on for 5-10 seconds. I just bought this sensor changing it this week when it comes in.. https://www.ecstuning.com/ES275364/?...FYhffgodS_QMIA

If this doesn't fix it (it should), what are some other things to check?

It's the big red oil can dripping, 3 beeps. It only comes on while driving. I'm heading to work soon, so I'll take a picture then. So mobile 1 5w 40 or straight 40? Winter 0-40 summer 5-40?

If the oil level isn't low, change the oil pressure sensor and report back.

If its low there is your issue, the oil is going to slosh around while driving, eg accelerating, braking, cornering. Why would you not fill it to the level it is designed for and expect it to work?

The motor is also designed to operate effectively with 1qt missing. If he was running 1.5-2qts short, then that would be an issue.

My point is it operates correctly even if oil level is on the "min" line.

I just changed the oil to see if it would fix the issue. and it didn't... Oil level read fine before, I changed it , and the light still comes on. Changing sensor later in the week.

Replacing the oil pressure sender right now here's the old one hopefully this fixes my issue... By the looks of it, it looks like it was leaking and there was quite a bit of crap in it.

I'd recommend going with an OEM replacement unit. I've had plenty of issues with the aftermarket offerings.

The pressure switches rarely if ever go bad.
-The wire is generally the issue OR you have low oil pressure plain and simple.

Drop the pan & clean the pick up screen / pray for the best.

If still an issue, thread in a mechanical OP gauge / cross your fingers.

I've seen multiple red OP lights & bottom end fails...

Lol, your choice of oil doesn't have much to do with oil pressure (minimal depending on temp and rpm) or a light coming on. It's either you're low on oil, or if not, the sensor needs replaced.
