    Looking at a used 2013 Q5

    Hello all,
I'm an old school Audi guy/antique Audizine member looking to get back into an Audi. Looking at a used 2013 Audi Q5 2.0 white with chestnut interior. It's a bare bones model, no pano roof, no auto tailgate.....has LED Tim on headlights so I assume it has HIDs but that's all she wrote. It has 53K miles and is being sold at my local Audi dealer.

Any thing I should be looking for, wear items, issues, etc....looking for any thoughts. Appreciate your input.

Looking to do a few minor mods, Chip, FMIC, lowered with H&R, 20s and ecodes.

Does it have the backup camera? What are they asking for it? I'd try to find a 3.0T or TDI since you're wanting to mod it.

24k, I have owned several TDIs, I just don't drive enough to justify the extra expense for a 3.0 or TDI. I average 750 miles a month, so want a nice play car.

You should be able to find one with more options for the mileage and price. They're probably cheaper on the east coast though.

Yeah the options don't worry me. I'm actually ok with how it's equipped, just more so looking to see if there are any mechanical items I should look at specifically prior to buying.

If you're looking to tune it the 3.0T will probably be a much better platform for you. If the 2.0T is what fits best for you though, take a read through this thread.

Q5 timing chain failed at 70k

I would keep in mind that there's lots of 2.0Ts out there, so that's probably why you hear more about issues with them. I'd suggest taking a close look at the maintenance history and planning ahead for the major items you'll be needing to take care of on that car at 60k miles. I'd also want to make sure any Audi I purchased with that many miles is CPO.

During my search for a Q5, I tested and tried all models before making a decision. A coworker of mine has a chipped 2.0t with breather mods and while it NOW has a good amount of pep, it's just not enough to move the Q5.

I'd suggest a 3.0T any day of the week. Due to the mileage you drive monthly, spending the extra $$$ for a TDI is not worth it.

I spend a few weeks working with a fellow who operate OrderACar.com. He searches vehicles available within all Manheim Auto Auctions and can get you a deal well below what a dealer will charge you. These are the same cars dealers buy from to put on their lot. Check that out - might be able to save some $$$ that way, in regards to whatever model you're truly after.

    I have a 2012 Q5 2.0P+, 60K miles now. It's been trouble free with regular maintenance.
The timing tensioner issue was updated for MY2012, I don't hear of problems with that now.
Oil consumption problems generally haven't applied to the 2.0 motor (after MY2011)
I chose to delete the pano, and happy about it. Numerous reports of problems with them.
Only mod I've done is upgrade springs and sway bars. The bars helped flattened out the curves, but didn't change the ride. Handling is at least 50% better than new.
