274hp, AWD, leather seats, decent looks...all for under $29k. Your brother doesn't sound too dumb to me.

I have been in them before....they are not bad at all IMO. I think it looks good once you put some different wheels on them.

I think they are pretty sick for the price honestly; however, they aren't designed to do the same thing as an Audi. Mazda is what it is, cheap performance, and they are good at what they do. Likewise, Audi is good at combining luxery and performance. The verdict: if you'd have more fun with a Mazda than get a Mazda... no shame.

Does look alright, though the wheels would have to go. Theres a few things with it that gets to me, but for the price and what you get not a bad option

Yeah, AWD and the specs are similar to a B5 S4. I'm really curious to see what the magazines have to say. It weighs about as much as a B5 S4, but has more power and torque (250/258 v. 274/280 for the Mazda). The Mazda website lists the lower model at $28,555...not sure if I would be willing to spend that much for that car though.

that one looks pretty clean, but a lot of cars look better with some real wheels and a little drop. I'd like to stick with audi for my next car, but if that's out of the price range that sure looks like it'd be worth considering.

The 6 isn't too bad, especially for the price, but not too many modding possibilities. If you want to keep iy stock then its good. If you like to mod, go for the a4 (1.8/2.0T)

take a look at the regular mazda 6's mechanical issues.

I had almost put 500 down on one of these untill, i checked with JDpower, and consumer reports.

The mazda 6 looks nice drives nice untill it falls to shit. for the same price as they are selling the speed 6 here i bought my 3.0 usp.

<shrugs> was not even in the same running.

I have a hard time believing you paid under $30k for a 3.0 USP. unless you mean there is a huge markup on the mazdaspeeds.

    0-60 mph : 6.2 sec.
    0-ΒΌ mile : 14.7 sec @ 96.5 mph(estimated)

I don't know how accurate Mazda's estimates are, but it's not too fast, but probably can be modded easily.
