    Opinions on tunes

I have searched the forum and did a lot of reading but I was wondering why you choose your specific company for a tune.

Which do you like in your opinion and why? Was price a big factor?

I am just trying to get a feel for the best option for my c7 S6.

    All opinions welcome!

APR. when you're throwing your warranty out the window, longevity and transparency matter.

We are doing a special on our S6/S7 stage 1 and TCU combo. And since you are in NY/NJ you could bring the car to us for a custom tune as well. PM sent.

Just got the APR Stage 1 on my 16 RS7. Going to do it on my 15 SQ5 too. The Bluetooth piece for changing maps is really helpful too. Love being able to put the car in valet mode on the fly. Car is just ludicrously fast right now.

I went with UniTronic. The power is good and the ability to flash back and forth at home is great.

Custom tunes are the best and don't worry about warranty if you have good relationship with your dealer, just tell them you have the tune and don't let them upgrade the ecu software.

Basically UniTronic sells a cable similar to VagCom to use with the UniConnect+ software that connects to UniTronic's server to download the tune program files to flash at home. Currently I have 91 , 93, and stock programs and I can pick one out of three to flash the ECU using that Software. It may not be as convenient as APR that allows you to toggle the programs without the need to re-flash but to revert back to stock before dealership visit, this works like a charm as oppose to APR that you need to go to APR dealer. I just brought my car in for service 2 weeks ago and it came out clean as well.

I had giac in my B8. I messaged epl about their custom tune. If I can get it done I'll run the car at waterfest.

Also they said it's easy to flash back to stock if I wanted to bring it to dealer.

Unitronic. I have tuned back to stock from home a few times. Takes probably 20 minutes. My S6 was just in the dealership for an EPC light. The service techs had to get on the line with Audi. They ran full spec/actual scans etc during the diagnosis. Two weeks (parts flown in from Germany and engine put back together) later no TD1.
