    Bumper removal for new radiator?

I have a 2005 a6 with the 4.2. Looks like the radiator is starting to leak in the upper corner. To replace the radiator does the front bumper have to be removed?

If you want to make your life easier, yes. Bumper needs to come off.

Thank, I know how to work the regular spring clips that Audi used for the main radiator hoses. However looking at pics of a new radiator, what does the other two lines goto?

I just had to replace the entire front of mine, bumper, radiator, condenser, etc. Those two metal lines on the bottom left are for the oil cooler I suspect since oil came out of mine.

Motor oil? Or trans oil? I thought the ZF trans had its own cooler as well as the A6 had its own oil cooler

Yes the whole front had to come off. Bumper, lights, and radiator support.

When looking at the radiator from the front. The radiator support has a power steering coolant lines on the bottom. The AC condenser is in front of the radiator. The radiator has two coolant line on the back top left and bottom right (these are really annoying to get off and on). Most of the time they break getting them off and you have to buy new lines. To get them back on, lightly oil/lube the gasket on the inside. The two other lines on the right back are transmission cooling lines. The main radiator is half coolant and half transmission cooling (this is what you're replacing.

Overall is a pain in the ass to get off.

I ended up ordering a new radiator from advanced auto parts for $128.69 including shipping. Seemed a lot cheaper than everyone else, had an actual photo of the radiator which looked correct.

I didn't have to take my headlights or core support, and I got the radiator out. Definatly had to take the front bumper off. My radiator only has an upper house on the passengers side then the lower on the drivers side. And then the in/out trans on the drivers side. Im kinda surprised that it only took me about an 1 1/2 hours. The radiator was still warm when I got it out.

In other news... I'm going to be replacing the snub mount. Hoping not to have to complete tear the core support off. Any advise on this?
