    check your intermediate shaft bearings

Next time you do a timing belt just pull off the oil gear and check your bearings. I randomly decided to do that and lo and behold here is what I found. I also found out audi doesn't even offer replacements. Integrated engineering or Techtonics Tuning (where I got mine) are your only options. It sucked getting the front one out and I am definitely not replacing the rear one as I have no idea how you would get the old one out. It is way inside the block. Plus installing the new would be incredibly challenging. My rear one actually looked quite good. No noticeable wear. Just thought I would share.

You can get sealed power bearings from Napa or another parts place for a 1982 dodge omni 1.7L.

SEP 1726M is the part number for them, auxiliary shaft bearing set is what they are called in the catalog. Around $30 if I recall.

I had to do some digging to find them, that's what I used in my built motor. I had the machine shop r&r them when the block was being hot tanked.

I'll probably have my local napa order a set and I'll check those out :)

This just in- engine bearings wear out.

Sorry for the snarky comment, but it is true. The rear one would need to have the motor completely torn down to replace. My avant has 243k on it and is still kicking. Was planning on rebuilding a motor on the side for it, but now that I bought an S4 that won't happen anytime soon.
