In for info.... I would imagine without getting a whole new exhaust like the akropovic (sp) ? That the 3.0 a7 would not be as impressive as the s7 but I'm NOOOOOO expert!!! I would love to know if doing the muffler delete and X pipes made it sound much better! Let us know.

Ok. I removed my resonator from my MY2016 sport exhaust and had an H-pipe put in. The exhaust note is REMARKABLY better and absolutely noticeable. IMHO this is all you need. I am completely happy with the results.

I also had APR Stage 1 ECU/TCU done after the resonator delete and there's no difference, when in dynamic mode she will backfire a little bit but to me it sounds super mean.

Sound clip would be nice, however, the results could be VERY different on this S6 compared to if this were done on a 3.0T.

How much did the shop charge you for parts/labor?

I also have quad tip mod, so mine will be louder than yours when complete, any drones?

To be clear, all you've done so far is cut open the extra hole in each stock muffler and attach tips, right? did that cause any drone whatsoever?

As promised. I realize OP may be referring to A7's, however my S6 was wayyyyy too quiet when I first got her, even with the Sport Exhaust option. The Resonater delete is def noticable no matter what model/line you have.

Our resonated X pipes a popular with the A4/S4 crowd for this mod. You get the same performance benefits, but a deeper tone with much less rasp!

We offer these in variety of different sizes and inlet/outlet diameters, but the most popular one for the A4/S4 is part# 11386.

Yeuchau - after you did the quad tip exhaust and resonator removal, do you have any issues with drone? It sounds phenomenal, BTW!

There were some drone the first couple days I had it done, but after that no drone anymore.
Not sure if it's because I am used to it, or settled or I know how to step on the gas to avoid the drone.
Regardless, I love it, it's Money we'll spend

I did the center resonator delete mod and deleted the resonators on the down pipe. I didn't like the sound. While it was louder than stock it was not bassy. it was soft and I hated it. I never wanted to step on the gas because it sounded soft and like I was posing. I went full custom mandrel bend with borla mufflers and love it. The kids approve the wife grumbled when I first installed the custom exhaust however once carbon built up in the pipes it calmed down a bit but still "loud". I like it. Not much drone on the highway. plus I have a radio for a reason.

So from your experience, this resonated X-pipe replaces the center suitcase muffler to give a bit more growl while minimizing any drone?
In the meantime, i'll research the S4 forums for more feedback.

So, after 2 days at a muffler shop making different changes, I found a winner for my 3.0 A6. I Initially ordered a Superspint center resonator thinking it would make the car louder, but it didn't make a difference. It made it slightly deeper.

I then had the resonator removed and put straight pipes in - it sounded good. Suttle, but still not loud enough and light drone. I then had the quad modification done and kept the supersprint resonator in and it's a winner! Louder, but refined with no drone. It suits the car and sounds throaty without being overbearing.

I forgot to add that I also got a pair of AWE S6 mufflers and tried those with as well as without the resonator. They sounded good and loud, but more drone that I was comfortable with. From the outside of the car, they sounded incredible!

I done it on my old a7 , also on my s6 before having the whole exhaust changed . For the a7 3.0T I had mid box removed and straight pipes first than X pipe instead , and some other mods as well. Based on my experience , removing mid box only won't make much difference , you need to remove resonators as well. Won't be too loud if you keep oem mufflers .There won't be any drone either . For the 3.0t I rather go X-pipe route than H pipe. For 4.0t H pipe

So punching out that extra exhaust hole in the rear mufflers did not cause any drone? I thought someone had given feedback in the past that it added some drone..
