ITG Performance Foam Air Filters now Available from Griffin Motorwerke

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
ITG products are regularly used at the top level of motorsport, most notably including F1, World Super Bikes, 24 hours of Le Mans and WRC. This close association with the pinnacle of motorsport translates to the best possible filtration and increased air flow solutions for your road car.

ITG's foam technology is industry-leading (proven by their use in Formula 1 racing). Unlike the common cotton gauze filters, these foam filters will perform equally as well as new after being cleaned and re-oiled. We offer ITG's line of OE replacement filters (ProFilter) as well as their universal fit conical and cylindrical filters (Maxogen) for those of you wanting to upgrade the filter in your aftermarket intake kit.

Serious question, how long do these foam filters last until the foam deteriorates? I understand that ITG creates F1 parts, but often F1 parts are only for one track event, or get replaced with each race. Air filter would probably be one of those items that get replaced.

Replace every 500 miles/fill up with that logic.

I warn customers against using any oiled filter, as the oil works past through the filter, into the intake tract and can seriously throw off a hot wire MAF or completely ruin it. YMMV.

Im not saying it doesnt ruin the maf as i dont have direct first hand experiance, but i think the maf can be cleaned and then work the same as it did before it became oil fouled

Sometimes, yes. But it's an uphill battle. Oiled filters are spectacular for cars that run speed density/map sensor, especially in really dusty environments. We always used them on sand cars, desert racers, ATVs, etc.

I've been running one on my car for the last 2.5 years. No sign of any deterioration. if you use a non-approved oil, then sure, it might degrade the foam. But otherwise, you should have years of worry-free operation.

deeper pleats = lower pressure drop. How can this even compete with a standard stock filter?

No response to the fact it is oiled? Do they come oiled, or is it something the customer applies?

Do you have any data to support claims? I am genuinely interested, but have a hard time dropping $65 on a piece of foam.

While this may be true, it definitely would be annoying to keep cleaning your MAF just to run some new fangled air filter

I ran piperX foam media filters. Panel and their new fangled inverted cone carbon fiber blahbity blah thing on my old 1.8t

    Significant oil problems with MAF....

And a disturbing amount of sand and grit found later in the lower IC pipes mixed in with the typical oil accumulation.

I would never run this type of filter, nor suggest it to anyone.
