On APR's site, both with the K04 kit on 93oct the B8.5 makes significantly more TQ. Any reason for this?

In the US, they use similar, but slightly different engines. Very similar hardware wise (they are both EA888 Gen 2 engines) but the engine calibration is different. They both use the Bosch MED17 engine management, but the fuel system in the B8.5 is slightly different (usually allowing for E85 fuel) and so the engine calibration is different to accommodate the newer fuel system. B8 engine code is CAEB. B8.5 engine code is CPMA.

The B8.5 doesn't always make more power. The B8 engine produces more power in Stage 2 on APR's site. But remember, those are only peak numbers. The curve of the power/torque matters just as much.

Outside the US, there is much more difference between the B8 and B8.5 engines used in each car. B8 is a Gen 2 engine and the B8.5 is a Gen 3 engine using Simos ECU, similar to Mk7 GTI and 8v A3. The Gen 3 engine is far superior.
