15K Service - Need to Flash Stage II Back to Stock?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm coming up on my 15K service, which I've been told includes a software update. My Audi advisor told me that the service shouldn't pick up my tune, but I'm not so sure about that. I don't want to go in for a service I'm paying for, and get tagged for my tune, so I'm planning on going to Induktion to be temporarily flashed back to stock, have the 15K service done, then flashed back to my regular Stage II tune.

I'm pretty sure most of the tunes reset the flash counter, at least the one's where you can't flash from home like his.

But yes op, that's what I'm planning on doing as well.

But his dealer or sa is in cahoots w him and already has knowledge of the tune (which is a good position to be in, i think) but yea they could... I plan to flash stock and roll the dice .. I fully expect to get shafted if anything significant breaks but so far so good.

If you have an honorable shop relatively close that doesn't charge to remove/reflash, it's a no brainer. Took mine in for warranty work with flash removed and had no issues at all. Although, I went in there fully expecting to be flagged. Better safe than sorry, or at least give yourself a fighting chance....

Even if you are good terms with your SA I would ALWAYS flash back to stock for service.

All it takes is a tech accidentally hooking your car up to the computer to get flagged TD1.

I completely agree, do everything you can to avoid TD1.

Coming up on 15K miles here also, was planning on changing the oil/cabin filter myself. I'm curious about the software update, do you have any more information?
    Thanks

Just had mine in for the 25K...and flashed back to stock. My shop only charges $40 to do so.

Because the 15K service involves a software update, I'm going to flash to stock, and once the service is complete, reflash to my tune. My tuner only charges $46.50 for the flash to stock and back.

My SA is fully aware of my set up. It would not be in their best interests to intentionally get me flagged, because they will have lost me as a customer forever, plus a lot of bad press to the rest of the community.

Audi quoted me $92 for cabin filter replacement.

LOL WUT....so because he can afford it there should be no further discussion?

Based on my signature does that mean i'm a fool because i do my own maintenance?

The cabin filter costs $20 and takes 3 minutes to change. Oil is also easy.

maybe the OP has a lot of money because he doesn't waste it..........

+1. I purchased mine as a CPO and the previous owner paid for Audicare, so I went to the dealer for each service. Now that I'm out of it I will do my own service, but why waste money AND time if I can take a loaner for the day and have someone else do it? Just make sure you put a "do not wash" sign on the dash

I'm the OP and the above pretty much sums up my sentiments. It's not about what service costs so much as what my time is worth to me. Some people like doing their own service and that's fine. I used to do my own as well. For the 15K service, I do have Audi Care so whatever work is to be performed, it's already paid for. Plus the 15K service involves a software update, and I don't think a DIYer can do that. And thanks for the reminder about, "Do not wash".
