Anyone purchased aftermarket lining or paddy to protect the loading and bumper?

I did some searches and found Weathertech has bumper and loading protection, but it requires you to get their cargo mat, which I don't want.

    I found this on Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/Bumper-Trunk-...loading+lining

But it is only 22 inches wide.

Audi liner is very expensive and it covers the whole cargo area. I am just looking for loading lip area and bumper protecting.

    Regards, Peter

I got XPEL ultimate in the rear. It's not bad, but it's not gonna help if you're dragging heavy objects against it every day. Eventually it will get marred

I'm not a fan of the Amazon one - when your bumper is dirty, it'll simply rub dirt into the soft finish of the bumper. I just installed the OEM PPF, and if you're careful on the vendor, the cost is only marginally more expensive. You can also visit a PPF installer for a custom piece. It's very likely they'll have a scrap that can be cut to fit, and will only charge you 30 minutes-ish of labor to install. Whether that works out to be less expensive....good guess.

I also went with XPEL on the rear. Like @drumnjuny said though, that's not going to work if you regularly drag stuff over the bumper. It's more there for accidental bumps and scrapes.

You can check out some other more robust options in this thread starting with post #13: Audi Q5 accesory rear bumper film. Not necessarily my style, but if protection is a priority it might be for you.

    Thank you for everyone's reply.

My installer said he could add a strip of X-pel over the top of the bumper for free and it would cost $350 to do the whole rear bumper.

I don't plan to load stuff all the time, but just wanted extra protection over the bumper and the hatch closing area.

I think I will either use a blanket or have someone make a cloth that can fold down to cover the hatch lip and top of rear bumper.

    Thanks again for the replies.

What kind of cargo will you be loading/unloading? My only area of concern is when my dogs jump in and out, and I've considered something like what you're describing. Otherwise, I've just made sure to be careful in lifting the item up-and-over. Most of my stuff seems to weigh in at around 30-40 lbs - speaker cabinets, dog food, yada.

So i got it specifically for dogs, did the whole rear bumper. actually it is pretty legit BUT it only holds 21psi so my cousin's dog with long nails went right through it in one spot the rest of it is still good. and someone rubbed against me while parallel parking on the corner of the car and the XPEL is messed up but the paint looks fine.

I don't load much cargo. I just want to be very careful when loading luggage and large boxes that I want to slide in. I have no pets.

I really like this concept for when I have to load something -> https://www.amazon.com/Bumper-Trunk-...iglink20461-20 , but it is not big enough.
