Unhappy Bushings and engine mounts cracked!

So i took my B8 S4 into the dealership because i would hear clicking noises when i turn the wheels as im moving slowly after letting the car sit for a long time (8 hrs or so). I read on the forums and people attributed it to either bearings or CV joint.

The other issue i had was that i would hear, occasionally, a thud when i hit brakes as im reversing. This is had no idea.

Sure enough, the dealership said that i have all 4 of my upper bushings worn out as well as my engines mounts being cracked.

    Cost to fix: $2000+

but hopefully the extended warranty people will show mercy. They are sending an inspector to well... inspect.

In the mean time however, they have given me a S-line A6 as a loaner. Pretty smooth driving car but it has a tiny 2.O turbo. I miss the power from the 3.0

Yes, Audi wheel bearings, fluid-filled motor mounts, and front upper control arm bushings fail early, often within 50K miles....sad, as this has been an Audi weak-spot since 1997, starting with the B5 A4 and B5 Passat.

2k? Lol. F that. Another example of dealer price gouging. I have stock motor mounts if interested in buying. I installed solid mounts recently. Stock are just fine. No leaks. 30k miles on them. Bushings are cheap online. Install for all at any reputable shop and you'll be in around 1k total.

I would do what you are saying if i didnt have any extended warranty. I paid almost $4k for an exclusionary warranty for up to 110k miles or 6 years i believe. So i'm happy to make them pay lol.

Good luck. Let us know if they pay and who the warranty is through. Most companies consider bushings a wear item and are not included in any kind of warranty.

yes i will. i thought it would be a wear item as well but the warranty company did not outright say it isnt covered. They are sending an inspector. That must mean these are covered items right??

Alright guys, status update. My assumption was correct and the warranty will cover the bushings and mounts even though they are normally considered wear and tear item. The warranty is supposedly covering the $2300 work (that's what the dealership said, and im 100% sure this is BS and marked up insanely) However, since i only have a $100 deductible, i cant complain.

One thing that bothers me is that, they want to do an alignment. Which makes sense considering you are messing with the suspensions. Normally i would assume this would be considered part of the repair and not an additional thing. But in my case, it is apparently separate and i have pay $80 for it .

So all in all, i will end up paying close to $200 out the door. Still better than paying the supposed $2300. Also if any of you are wondering what warranty i have, it's called smart autocare. oddly enough, they are not BBB accredited. Idk how i feel about that

I've been trained to always think that dealerships are price gouging.. after talking to a few people. You are right. In which case, i still cant complain. Thank the lord ... the warranty took care of it
