If it has gone up, it is not by a staggering amount. I am doing my 1st 10K KM oil change so some top ups are to be expected.

There are several things that effect oil consumption, including engine condition, functional status of PCV system, viscosity of lube oil, average level of lube oil, weather conditions, driving style and oil leaks, etc. All of the aspects effecting oil consumption are short term rather that long term, except for engine mechanical condition.
