    Nav display question

I'm not quite two weeks into S6 ownership and am really, really happy with the car with one exception - MMI. I had a five year old S4 before the S6 and knew I'd be getting an updated MMI, but I'm very disappointed about how little has been changed, updated or improved. And today I realized something that may be a significant step backward, but hopefully I'm missing something.

In my old S4, when approaching a highway intersection with route guidance activated, the left side of the main MMI screen showed a rendering of the highway signage along with lane markings and arrows indicating which lanes I should be in. It was extremely helpful. But for the life of me, I can't find a setting for that same display in my new and supposedly improved S6 MMI. Has that functionality gone away or have I not set up my nav properly?

My A6 has the lane display on the center nav screen in the instrument cluster. I believe it's the 'street view' screen. I know the 16s have different modes for the cluste but I should be on one of those displays.

I tried both Route Info and Maneuver options. Neither gives me the intersection view with guidance active.

Ok Mad, I'm working this. I see where the DIS screen indicates the proper lane to be in. But I didn't get on the highway. Will that screen also show the highway signs?

The functionality that I'm looking for is documented on page 68 of the MMI manual. There is supposed to be a separate Nav setting for "Intersection Map" which can be turned on or off. I do not have that setting in my Settings menu. Could someone check for me whether other A/S6s have that setting? Much thanks.

I just checked the MMI manual page 68,i see what your talking about..

I checked my MMI and there's no place to activate "Intersection map" inside MMI,with that being said i remember seeing intersections on the route when i picked up my car.. the criteria is a route has to be active which it was but i also had "Route Info" and auto zoom Intersections activated. i can believe that the MMI manual literature was already printed for various vehicles and updates was made inside MMI that didn't reach the manual. with that being said i'm pretty sure that's what's happening here.

With auto zoom turned on, when approaching an intersection, the map automatically zooms in and shows which turning to take.

It does not display or split the screen, to show intersection specific details.

Thanks much bonafyd. I suspect that you're right about a software update that eliminated the stand-alone option. I do fear that they eliminated the functionality as well. I've got Split Screen "Maneuver" and Auto Zoom "Intersection" currently set. I'll try it again with the Split Screen set to "Route Info". I think I've tried that before, but it's worth another look. Thanks again.

Thanks jk. MMI used to do it and it's still documented in the MMI manual, but I fear that the functionality has been eliminated.

I have a screen shot of how this used to work, but for some reason, I don't have permission to attach pics on this forum. How do I get that permission?

This is the answer, but I didn't understand it until a member from another forum explained further and provided screen shots. I'm a bit slow today.

The "Intersection Map", which is a pictograph showing overhead road signs, lane markings, and lane arrows (showing you the proper lane to be in) is still in our cars - but it's in the DIS rather than the main MMI screen. On older A/S6s, there's a setting in the MMI Navigation Settings menu for Instrument Cluster>Street View. In my MY16 S6, the setting is in the DIS menu as Mad stated above. When navigation is active, you select Street View in the DIS Navigation Menu. Note that you won't see that setting option if navigation is not active. And fwiw, my dealership's "tech guru", Audi's tech support and the Audi manuals all had this wrong. I shouldn't be surprised I guess.

btw, this is all separate from the Intersection Zoom function of the main MMI map. That functionality zooms in the MMI map at intersections, but it does not show the sign and lane pictograph of the Intersection Map in the DIS.

Thanks to everyone - especially Mad - for helping me figure this out.
