I have a 2001 with about 270k on the clock and I have been getting some really weird behavior lately. For a while now I have had a P0012 code for the CCT but since there were no ill effects I just left it since I keep expecting something major to happen and waste time and money on something that doesn't seem to effect driveability. Anyway, over the winter the car hard couple of hard starts. Basically the car would start fine fine running short trips it would just have a tough time turning over. Sometimes if you left it and came back it would fire up like nothing happened. I had the battery/alternator tested and they were fine. This pretty much disappeared until the other day. In between the alarm system started to flake out. It would constantly alarm. I tried not locking the doors but would often come back out to a locked car and the horn/lights going off. So I tried to pull the fuse that the manual says is for interior lights and alarm but all this seems to do is keep the lights from flashing when it goes off. Last week I went out to the car and drove to HD at lunch. On the return trip the CEL started flashing and idle was rough. I checked the codes which indicated misfire in #1. I cleared the codes, checked the plugs which were fine and moved the coil pack from #1 to #4. The car drove home fine except I swear I could feel some surging under harder acceleration, maybe every 2 seconds or so. Last night the car alarm went off 4x's so I pulled the codes to see what was going on and got the following:
01367 - Central Locking Pump Run Time Exceeded (Likely Leak)
35-00 - -
01371 - Alarm triggered by Door Contact Switch; Driver's Side
35-00 - -
01374 - Alarm triggered by Terminal 15
35-00 - -
01370 - Alarm triggered by Interior Monitoring
35-00 - -
00991 - Interior Lights
28-00 - Short to Plus
00955 - Key 1
09-00 - Adaptation Limit Surpassed
01369 - Alarm triggered by Hood Switch
35-00 - -
01365 - Lock/Unlock Switch; Interior
29-00 - Short to Ground
00956 - Key 2
09-00 - Adaptation Limit Surpassed
Just now I was out at lunch and again the car didn't want to start but once it did the idle was very high (3k). I sat for a bit thinking it might recover but it didn't. So I started to drive back to the office and when I took the car out of gear I could see the tech going from 2000-2300 with the same 2 second span I mentioned above.
Anybody have any idea what the hell might be going on here? Is there anyway to really disable the alarm system? What do those adaptation surpassed messages mean? Could the alarm codes somehow be causing the hard starts? Really at a loss on what I could check and really need to try to make this thing last a few more months.
