i did my timing belt and replaced the water pump and rollers and tensioner and now i have a rattling noise.... did anyone have this same problem before. its loud when you cold start and not as loud when it warms up. im thinking maybe the waterpump or tensioner.? waterpump was aftermarket and so was the tenisoner.... i resreached and saw that the 1.8t had same issue didnt find much on the 2.7t. any help would be appreciated or if someone had same issue and what they do to fix it? thanks

Where is the rattle coming from, the back of the heads? Front of the motor? Does clutch in or out make a difference (since you just rebuilt the trans too right?)

No it's coming right in the front and now it sounds like it's hitting the plastic so I think maybe something is loose I'm gonna take it apart tomorrow to go deeper but yep that was me rebuilt the trans... And no doesn't make a diff of clutch is in or out

Maybe the roller or another pulley is not aligned completely and the belt is trying to ride off?

I recently got this same issue. Chattery noise towards the front of the pass head. Currently swapping another head, full timing belt kit, a bunch of misc seals and gaskets, etc. Gl

Well I doubt it's the head for me cuz there wasn't that noise before and just because doing a timing belt job shouldnt mess the head up

    Thanks tho

I had a rattling noise that turned out to be some of the crank pulley bolts had come loose.
