    Condensation inside windshield?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey Guys,

As the subject states, it seems with the warmer weather (especially here in TX), when I have my AC on at full blast, I'm getting multiple areas of condensation on my front windshield. Usually, I can use the wipers....and wipe away all the condensation. To be clear, it's not a ton, just a few spots near the middle, and I can see multiple spots near the bottom of the windshield....from what I'm assuming is the front windshield defroster. I don't remember really having this issue come up in years past....but I guess it could be weather / humidity related. However, I just wanted to ask to be sure if this wasn't a symptom of something else wrong.

I am in "Auto" and do not have the up arrow selected, so there shouldn't be much (if any) cold air hitting the windshield as far as I understand.

If anyone needs any additional information to assist in the troubleshooting process, please let me know. TIA! =)

    Thanks,
    Asif

The air directional control mechanisms may be stuck or otherwise faulty. Check this by setting the system to manual, set the fan about halfway (AC can be enabled or disabled) then:
    1. Set air to floor only. Check air flow at defrost, vent, floor.
    2. Set air to vent only. Check air flow at defrost, vent, floor.
    3. Set air to defrost only. Check air flow at defrost, vent, floor.

If air flow at the defrost outlets never changes then something is stuck.

I once had a similar problem (passenger's feet at full AC). Fixed it by removing the glove box and unsticking one of the mechanisms. It had lodged itself at the end of travel. Like a road tripper.

There are also ways to check for error codes for each of the little motors under there. Lastly, those gears/motors can be recalibrated for center or end positions. I've never done either of these items but that should give you some search keywords.

    Good luck.

Try using Basic Settings mode, with VCDS, HVAC controller channel 001. Wait until all the servo channels run back and forth to reset the servo motor end points.

Thanks John. I knew someone out there could add a concise explanation with the correct terminology.

Well driving home this afternoon, no condensation.....I was parked at work in a parking garage though. Will try to keep an 'eye' out on the issue, but I'm leaning towards it's weather related...

    Thanks,

I've had this already on very humid days, especially if it is quite hot and humid. Only way to stop it is keep the AC warmer that I've found, or wait for the humidity to go away.

Mine does that too if I put it on full auto mode. If I select the dash and/or floor vents it doesn't do it and the auto temp still works so I just do that.

Does this look right to everyone after running through basic settings in VCDS:

Will keep everyone posted with the results.
