alright so i am clueless when it comes to electrical. a while back i found out my homelink wires in the fender were torn so i fixed that (actually relocated them so that they run up over the shock tower) and that fixed it for a while. one morning i go to shut the garage and it is not getting power (no blinking red led) so i think the wires in the fender are split again. after work i check it out and the wires are perfect i am positive they are fine. still not working i pulled the front bumper and replaced the home link module. pluged in the new one, still no power. then i replace the 3 little buttons in the visor, still no power at this point all it could be is the front bumper wiring harness (harness that has the fog lights, horns and other stuff) so my question is how do i use a voltimeter to test the wires running into the homeloink module and which wires do i test? because somewhere in the harness the 2 wires becomes 4 wires on the homelink module connecter. so what wires do i test?

sorrry im a newb with all electricity stuff

Check your fuse panel on the drivers side of the dashboard. If I recall there is a 3 or 5A fuse specifically for the homelink. Yours is probably bad.

Get yourself an ohm meter or multimeter. Probe each end of the wires and check for continuity. If it is open, then the wire is cut/broken somewhere between the ends you are testing.

How did they get torn initially?

Still would like to know how they got torn. If they were pulled in anyway, then it is very likely that the wire has broken inside the insulation. Checking each end ofr continuity will tell you if there is a break in the wire. If there is, your next step is to replace the wire or fix the break.

Matt Devo has the button pin out right here.

I would start there with a test for power/ground then work towards the module.
