    Keep losing shift linkage

So, for the second time in 4 months, I have lost my ability to shift the car into any gear and have had it get it towed home to tighten a nut on the shift linkage.

This all started after a DIY clutch change and a few days after putting it all together I lost all gears and later found that the cap nut on the linkage at the transmission had worked it's way loose causing the issue. I tightened it and was good to go.....until yesterday, when sitting at a light I put it in 1st gear and got nothing, I had to tow it again because the car is too low and hot to do anything on the side of the road.

I found that there is some sort of wedge piece that is probably missing causing me all my problems , so my choices are have one CNC'd, or try a flange nut instead of a cap nut to see if I can get more torque on in or buy a JHM linkage end piece and maybe get rid of some slop too.

Anyone have any insight into this because it gets expensive towing this thing around every couple of months. I'd like to do the JHM piece but i'm wondering that if since I'm already missing the wedge if it would be pointless to order that because it would just do the same thing.

    Thanks,

whatever you do, you need the wedge. if your handy with a hacksaw and a file you could make one yourself.

What he said^. They go missing all the time and that will constantly loosen up on you. Seems like a headache, but I eventually had to make one and all it is is like a 1" x1.25" square'ish piece of flat metal. The OEM part is slightly a wedge, but doesn't need to be that precise.
Might not be a fun job on a 2.7...getting to it is a bitch.
Check w/ Scotty @ www.advancedautomtion.com ...he might have one. Someone oughtta make a pile of these, lots of people end up missing it.
