A buddy of mine the ANGEL that he is replaced the Vac solenoid that was faulty UNDERNEATH the manifold, nice Audi. This controls the vac line pressure to the manifold flaps in the runners & is connects electronically. We did a little carbon clean while we were there. He was actually shocked how clean the valves were. 2010 S5 70k for reference. I ONLY use Shell or Mobil 1 93.
For reference & giggles A shop wanted to charge me $800 just to replace the solenoid lmao ! And $1,300 for solenoid & carbon clean. Car is running awesome, not sure if it's placebo but I feel more mid/upper range power from that small manual scrap & spraying the valves down. I was amazed the car didn't really even need a scrap, wonder if it was done prior to me owning it. But just a few sprays with the cleaner we used literally just dissolved the small amount on the valves, & the walls were nice and shiny again.
Anyway I had planned to take the car for inspection tomorrow but I noticed Carista shows all emissions are ready other than the secondary air. I cleared the codes on Sat at about 2am. I took a trip into Philadelphia last night about 50 mins highway each way. Everything is green via Carista except for the secondary air. No codes no faults nothing. Does it usually take a few days and various driving conditions to show ready? I'll have to move my appointment up to maybe later this week. I have about 130 miles on it i think since i have reset it. Just want to get a idea so i can move my appointment up. Inspection is good until end of June. I am slacking, busy adult life :(
This is what it showed yesterday.
This is were I'm at now after driving it for about 40 mins today around town.
All clean again, we didn't realize Audis PCV system is coolant cooled. So a little pink sprayed on the motor when that hose was disconnected lol. Good time to clean it again ;)
