    A7 and RS7 OEM Airbox

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know if the oem RS7 Airbox will be a direct fit in an A7?

I want the extra holes and the oem look it has without resorting to ghetto - engineering. I figure if the RS7 box can handle 560hp than it should flow well enough for my A7.

That won't fit, they're 2 different engines, if you want a stock look them leave it stock and change your air filter to a k&n. If you want more holes, pull the air box out and drill holes in the bottom, you'll never see it and no one will ever know.

I might try the holes at the bottom if the rs box doesn't fit.

Just looking at the overall shapes and mounting locations, they look so damn similar other than the rs box has a flatter top (more volume). The intake hoses are definitely different but sent to enter the box at the same locations. It may be worth trying...look out for an rs7 Airbox on the classifieds soon!

So I just answered my original question and yes, the rs7 box does fit the A7! I ordered the part from ECS, and used the 034 silicone throttle body hose and k&n filter. The box is 100% bolt with no modifications required. The 034 hose however is a little short, so I used a silicone adapter from pep boys.

The beloved sc whine is definitely there thanks to the silicone hose and additional holes on the box. Butt dyno feels no different than the previous Injen intake I had, maybe a bit smoother.

Overall I'm happy I did it. Very OEM+ look with aftermarket performance and sound. Not cheap by any means, it cost around $400 total for the hose and box, but I definitely got what I was after.

If the A7 and A6 air box Audi part numbers match, then it should be a go.

I can also suggest that you remove the plastic flap inside the box held by two Allen screws on the scoop side. It's there to probably reduce induction noise and to direct air over the filter I guess for redicing water exposure when raining. I would do that on mine since I rarely drive my car when raining...

    Is the A7 box part number 4G0 133 836R or 4G0 133 843?

I was wondering what that was for. It makes sense that there's drain holes at the bottom of the box too.

Anyone have the info to this box so I can convert my a7 to rs7 intake?

You really need to take apart your stock intake assembly, then put it back together. Then you'll fully understand the parts and pieces. Otherwise, you'll be at the mercy of this forum. It truly is plug and play.

Oh boy! Lol, nah, but it's pretty straight forward. Is the throttle body the same size on the TDI for the hose to work?

Everything is the same. It should be able to get it done. Just didn't look like a removable piece but I guess it is. Mine should be here Friday I'll play with it. Haha.

Its an 034 hose for a B8S4, i got it directly from 034. ECS sells it i think, but you need to shop for it in the B8 section. The hose is NOT plug and play. Just stick with the oem hose for now, youll be fine.

We've just completed this swap for one of our A7 customers as we were installing an APR Ultracharger and some JHM and AWE loud parts. Installation is very straightforward and like mentioned above, you need to retain the A7 single-tube intake port/panel, and we also removed the small plastic bell/tube/stack inside the intake. I don't have any empirical data to support my feelings on its effectiveness, but throttle responsiveness does feel snappier than with a stock air box, and it does amplify the supercharger whine somewhat.

Mike, did you use the stock air filter, or change that out as well?

We used the filter that accompanied the APR intake (K&N style cone filter).

No. Because an RS7 is a twin turbo with 2 intakes. It won't match up on a 3.0t engine.

Incorrect, the nozzle is swapped out to the single tube from the A6 box for direct fit.

That is the hose I used. But it has to be modified to fit. Since its for the B8, it will be too short. I added a 3x3.5" coupling.

I have changed since then, and now I use the ECS carbon fiber tube, also for the B8S4. It will fit with a little tweaking.

I've found the best airflow comes from a well used and oiled sock. Has to be cotton though, none of that synthetic rayon shit.
