    LED Turn Signals

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
These are only for B8.5, the B8s use a different bulb!

I thought I would do a quick review of a few LED turn signals I purchased for those of you also looking to upgrade.

Option 1: Samsung Flat LED Turn Signals ($17)
Option 2: CREE Round LED Turn Signals ($35)
Option 3: Samsung 21 SMD LED Turn Signals ($23)

(Note: These are just the ones I bought, you can likely find the same model cheaper that ships from the US if you look around hard enough)
(Note 2: Option 3 are the best IMO, don't have a side by side video though as I ordered them afterwards)

From Left to Right: Stock, CREE, Samsung

Note: All videos are slowed down to 50%, video was shot with my phone so I apologize about the shit quality.

    Samsung vs Stock:

Comments: The Samsung LED is brighter than the stock bulb but, is a lighter color. Also note in this video how out of sync the stock bulb(drivers side) is with the rest of the lights.

    CREE vs Stock:

Comments: The CREE LED is brighter than the stock bulb, about the same color and produces a much crisper light. Also note again how out of sync the stock bulb gets.

    CREE vs Samsung:

Comments: Samsung(Drivers side) is brighter than the CREE but, is considerably lighter and looks less crisp.

    Final Verdict:

Both the Samsung and CREE bulbs are an upgrade over the stock bulbs. They are both brighter, error free and fix the out of sync issue.
The Samsung bulbs better match up with the color of the turn signals in the mirrors and are a tad brighter than the CREE.
The CREE bulbs appear crisper(less light bleeding) and are an awesome deep amber color.

I ended up keeping the CREE bulbs in my car as I just love the crispness and color. However, you would likely be happy with either

Here is the CREE bulb with the DRL's on.

If you guys have any questions let me know. Total install time was about 5 minutes. It might take you longer if you have the stock airbox in as I think you will have to remove it to change the passenger side bulb.

Also, since I am not using the Samsung bulbs if anyone wants them and is willing to cover shipping I will send them your way.

+1, nice write up. I didn't write anything up but I did some comparisons between ijdmtoy, ECS, and Retrofitlabs. I ended up keeping the Retrofitlab ones for the same reason, the crisp and deep amber color.

nice review and comparison. question - could you get a video during the day or in sunlight? I used to run both iJDMtoy and ebay LED turn signals but you could barely see them during the day so I went back to OEM bulbs.

Got home late today so I shot a few videos around dusk that I will post shortly.

FWIW, they bulbs still look great and are highly visible in the daylight.

    How's this?

    CREE vs Samsung

Samsung is quite a bit brighter as seen in this video.

Note: My DRLs are set to 80% with the headlights on.
