Fueling questions for Stage 3 setups

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    All,

I am running a GT2871r setup from AWE. I will be building the bottom end to be able to extract a bit more from the motor and turbo. I replaced the proprietary RS4 injectors from AWE with S3 injectors for several reasons. I am trying to identify the bottlenecks in the fueling system and whether or not they will be applicable to my hardware. I have an upgraded HPFP already (APR). Still have stock LPFP and stock controller. The other elements that I have seen people address are the PRV and fuel lines and rail.

For those of you running similar or more robust setup's, can you comment on the fueling issues you encountered and what elements you addressed. Thanks.

Definitely get an RS4 LPFP control module if you are running all that...

Also the PRV 100%. Simple bolt ons that make a big difference....

Your HPFP and S3 injectors should be fine for that turbo. If you are still running stock lpfp and controller, as well as the rail valve, that's where I would focus my upgrades. The RS4 rail valve should work fine since it has a lift pressure of 136 bar IIRC (you will likely be running a tune that requests 130 bar.) The stock lpfp could work if it isn't a tired original, but the stock controller tends to overheat and crap out when pushed too hard.

Like Aluthman said focus on the low side. The S3's and HPFP are fine. You should be able to get the s3's up to 500 with secondary fueling.

The stock controller likes to over heat, so I would either replace it with a new unit and add torquebtye or just swap in a rs4 unit. The stock LPFP is pretty robust and can handle fueling but you are going to be pushing it close to its max in the future. If you want to run the stock LPFP APR does make a LPFP inline pump that can help supplement the fueling on the low side and you should be good up to 500 again on the low side.

Rs4 PRV is plenty unless you want more fueling overhead for the injectors then go with HPFPupgrades.com custom 150Prv and above.

I run a S3 K04 with S3 injectors, HPFP stage 2 pump, TTRS lpfp, stock lpfp(needs upgraded), and 155 PRV, but at the same time I am one of the only people running full E85 on my setup. I can tell you that I am hitting the limits of the stock LPFP controller and S3 injectors.

Thanks for the feedback all. Trying to get up to speed. Have read through the relevant build threads here and elsewhere. Trying to source the RS4 LPFP controller and will go with the PRV and go from there. I'll see how long the fuel pump lasts.

If you really look at the whole fuel system you'll find the flaws and see what needs to be changed to reach your goals. I found way more then enough fuel to max out my old setup on e85. This platform has more fueling then everyone gives it credit for.

Yeah, I would look for pressure drops before moving to more hardware where you may not need it.

Didn't you go pretty much the same route as me for fueling, minus the W/M that you use

I did a lot of stuff I haven't shared and probably wont. I use meth to cool my charge temps and regain lost power, not for a fuel source.

So pretty much not going to help the platform grow for fueling? Eh its whatever. I am testing new injectors for e85 atm.

Aww i thought you used it for supplemental fueling. Right on

Even if I had a fuel setup that was capable of 1000whp no one would use it, there's only like 2-3 guys who want to make over 500whp. I saw those, what are you looking to get out of them?

Not many people want to go above that cause its the current threshold. Once solutions are brought forth and people know then more are gonna move past 500...

If they do what they are supposed to do I should have no problem reaching just under 500 on e85 and should still have head room.

No sir, different injectors. Btw I remember reading somewhere that the ecotect 3.5 or ecoboost injectors might work....
Also, do the new q5 injectors seem like a cheap upgrade for running e85 on say a k03 or ko4. They are e85 compatible.
