Long story short, I purchased a 09 Audi A6 Avant 3.0t. It was wrecked and some work had been done to it prior to my buying it. Essentially when I got it the engine wouldn't start. Also the transmission had been replaced due to the wreck damaging the original one. I have since got the engine running. Last night I went to load the car on a trailer to go get painted and the car would not move on its own power. I put it in gear but it doesn't move. It doesn't even really feel like it is going into gear. I tried all of the gears, but nothing. The car does see that I am changing the selector position because the backup camera and lights come one in reverse. I checked the fluid and it is fine. I also can spin all of the wheels individually. If I spin thin the drive shaft it moves all the wheels accordingly. I have to put the car into neutral in order to push it anywhere. The only code I get from the transmission is P1701 TCU locked. I understand that because who ever replaced the transmission didn't properly code it I may now need to go to audi to do so. However the cluster display says that the car should still drive but is essentially in limp mode. I ran some diagnostic tests with VCDS and I will post them. The transmission assembly code is 6hp-19a KKT. I think it is the proper transmission for the car. The mechatronic box number is 4f1910156k. I have checked all the fused and changed all of the relays. From what I understand the TCM is build into the mechatronic box that is on and in the transmission unlike the c5 Audi's that have a separate TCM. I don't really know what else to do. I would like to try and fix the problem myself if possible. I appreciate any feedback and help possible.

Are all gears illuminated on the center DIS? This would be an indicator that the transmission is in fact in Limp Mode. If the TCU was not properly coded to the car, this would explain your issue. The reverse lights and back up camera are activated by the position of the gear selector. This does not mean the TCU is operating the interals of the transmission properly in order to get into the selected gear.

I do not know of a way through VAGCOM to be able to code the TCU correctly.
