I saw this mod by Sport Line on AudiWorld, where he cuts a V in the rear muffler and removes the fiberglass in the muffler:

I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like without the resonator deletes.

The reason i ask is that i have heard a 2016 S6 with aftermarket exhaust and it had the burble and crackle on deceleration and i have heard a 2013 S6 with the exact same aftermarket exhaust and it doesnt have it. That is why i am asking, no one has ever been able to give me an answer on that so i am hoping someone more knowledgeable does know.

    appreciate any insight

30 more hp in the C7.5? Haha but I don't know. My sport exhaust without any mod has some crackle pop to it so maybe it's in the rear resonators..

Yas, lets definitely do a meet up sometime. I would love to hear this exhaust in person. You guys can get your ears on my Roc Euro intake as well. Assuming you don't already have yours..

Would be interested in hearing how you're getting on with the planning. I'm being quoted £300 everywhere which, especially compared to $200, is very high. Have you gotten any quotes?

I agree about 50% louder than stock. Perfect for me and others because it ads that growl over stock and sounds awesome for a small price compared to the price of an exhaust.

Did they fabricate an H pipe or an X pipe?

Ive read a few times that the H pipe is definately not recommended becaue of the valve on the left hand muffler.

Why wouldn't a H pipe be recommended? As long as the gas can pass through both sides, whether its an H or X, I don't really see a difference.

Mine isn't as clean as andrews X cause the guy just fabricated this H pipe up but isn't it essentially achieving the same thing as the X?

From what l understand, when the single valve is closed, the H crossover causes too much back pressure and can cause problems with valve seals.

Although X and H are similar, its to do with the gas flow.

There is a Forum thread on the H v X pipe debate which discusses this in some depth.

Im away from computer, but l'll see if l can find the link.

Adam - a more cost effective option may be to purchase the X-Pipe yourself, then find a decent exhaust/workshop who could do the delete and welding. Plenty of parts out there(lm not sure of the diameter pipes you need - someone whose done this may chip in)

Thanks andrewaw. I'm hoping it'll scratch the Stage 2 itch I've been having recently! I get lots of pops and crackles on downshifts/overruns with the sports exhaust - I just want to hear everything more through these double glazed windows! :P

True, just a lot more expensive here than in the States! When are you planning to have yours done?

Thanks, this is an option which I hadn't really thought of. The places I've had quotes from have just quoted one hours labour to make the part as this is apparently how long it'll take them. That puts it cheaper than that Magnaflow part but I think you could well be onto something! Just have to figure out what diameter etc I need in order to weigh up the prices. I have a feeling the pipes are 3".

You have to be very careful with the 3.0T. They tend to end up with droning when you modify the stock exhaust.

This mod may be a better option for the 3.0T exhaust, if the internals of the rear muffler are similar:

Yeah I think all engines vary a lot on how they will sound when the resonator gets removed, it just so happens the 4.0T sounds great. you can always try it though and if you dont like it just put it back on. Should be way cheaper to put resonator on because they just hack of the X pipe and weld back in the resenator.
