    Can our batteries be recharged?

Trying to find a thread on this. My battery is shot from a dead engine and the dealer trying to endlessly start my car. Can the battery be removed and recharged? I know with many batteries you can but with the amount of ******y that went into building these Audis im assuming there will be some sort of stupid issue.

Why bother with finding out. Unless that battery is only a few montha old - just buy a new one and swap it out.

No need to remove the battery...just hook-up a charger to the underhood battery jump-start terminals......

But, if a car battery is deeply discharged, that itself can ruin the battery, even if you charge it right away. It may seem to charge up, but it won't have the capacity it used to have.

The battery is under the trunk floor, under the spare tire...not a big deal to change.

    I hope you're kidding, right?

Of course it can be recharged. It's a car battery, nothing fancy here.

Never know with these damn cars. Things are always harder than normal.

Reacharged it at Advance Autoparts for free. No need for a new one. Audi Brooklyn tried telling me I needed to spend $350 for a new one installed.

Lol 350....just install it yourself dude it's a few bolts and located under the spare tire.

As far as pricing goes mine is 09 as well and I just bought one a few months ago. Talk to the parts Mgr and ask him if he will price match another dealer for you.

You would have to pay shipping on GAP but no tax unless your a cali resident so it's fair trade if your dealer price matches then you wouldn't have to pay shipping but you would still have to pay taxes.

They don't last forever with the age of the B8 they should of already been replaced. Have it tested I doubt it it's running at optimum spec. Weak battery can have all kinds of effects on a car.

There is no reason to have a parts store charge it. If it's healthy the alternator should charge it up fine on its own.

Mine has been replaced. This was drained dry, wouldnt keep power when jumped. Its fully powered now and going back into the car. My engine hasnt been able to start in two weeks and Im starting at the least expensive places first.

I have to agree with this statement. If the issue is the battery (i.e. not something else like the alternator, etc.), and it won't keep a charge, why waste your time trying to charge it all the time, even if it's free? If it was some another, critical part that isn't performing as it should, would you be looking for the least expensive alternative and keep "patching" it over and over?

If I misunderstood the original post, then I apologize. If money is an issue, I can see your reluctance in replacing the battery. Otherwise, I'd buy a new battery for the piece of mind.

This battery has never been recharged. Why would I not give it a shot recharging it first? I dont know what the issue is yet. If this battery dies again then I know its an issue related to power management. Im not patching it over and over. I havent even patched it the first time. The engine had a sensor issue and wouldnt start. I replaced the sensor myself but the battery was dead and I couldnt see if it worked. The morons at audi did something with the car while it was in their possession that drained my battery. They couldve left the lights on or screwed with my alternator, I have no clue and they would never come clean. Smartest thing for me to do is to recharge the battery so I know without a doubt that I have the power needed for the car to start and things to turn on. The battery charged to full capacity. I will install and troubleshoot from there. Money isnt an issue, replacing the battery makes no sense if I have a bad alternator or something else wrong.

What i got from this whole thread was, if you own an audi, just replace everything without actually trying to fix it first lmao jerrit youre right. Why not have the battery charged first then if it really is bad replace it? Its common sense tbh. No reason to throw money away just because lol

exactly how I feel. That seems to be the general consensus even with Audi service centers. I had engine issues and they sent me an estimate which said Client states engine not working: new engine $13,590.

I agree you should never just throw parts at a car. Like I stated you should have it tested to see health of battery obviously would have to charge it to have it tested. When it comes to basic maintenence items when I first buy a car I like to go through and replace all basic maintenence items and give car a good tune up. Filters, plugs, coils, fluids, battery, etc
But to each his own. That way I can ensure maximum life of remaining parts. IE flushing fluids to extend life of components. Testing battery to extend life of charge system. But that's just me I can be a bit OCD and this type service can always go on and on so you have to decide where to draw the line.

The reason I suggested replacing the battery is because if it's been fully drained that can damage the battery and keep it from performing you spec. Everyone has their own level of maintaining there car. To each his own.
