what are some thoughts about buying a new set of Michelin pss 255 30 20 with a dot of 2014 2015. 250 a tire. sound like a good deal or would you stay away from a tire that was produced possibly two years ago? again they are new and never been used

personally, that would be my prefered way of buying tires - finding never used new ones, or even an older model ones, but manufactured a year or two ago. You get significant discount and I can't think of any downside... have been running older model higher tier winter tires for the past 5 years - no complaints whatsoever. But then all my previous cars were less powerfull and expensive. Anyway, right now I'm looking to buy a set of winters with a dot of 2014 2015 225/45/18 Goodyear UltraGrip Performance Gen1 or Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 for 175-180usd a piece.

I had the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 on the car last winter and really liked them but I paid much more for them.

Think the rule of thumb is if a tire is over 5 years old, have it inspected regularly, if over 10 replace it. I would buy 14/15 tires no problem as i would burn through them faster than 3+ years.

apologies, my bad, took a reversed currency rate, actually it's 175-180usd, but that's still much better than buying '16 ones in october or november
