1/2 mile airstrip APR S6 vs. GIAC S4

Attended an airstrip event with the S4 last month. Forgot to post video here. Had a number of good races, this one was the best of the day.

APR tuned S6 on 100 octane vs. my GIAC stage 2 car on 104 octane.

S6 would definitely win if it was a 1/4 mile, but our cars are mean on the top end.

I was surprised too. I saw him in the pits and asked him what he was trapping. It was right around me (145-146ish) so we set up a run. Sure enough, he pulls out low end and I pull back after about 110mph.

This is a pretty good indicator of how well the S4 performs on the top end with 104octane. You can see the TQ monster S6 barely pull on you and you started to gain on him easily. ) The extra weight on the S6 + that passenger didn't help either but there is still room for tuning on the S6. I'm jealous of the S6's motor.

This is such good news for me. I planned doing the WannaGoFast In September, and I was worried about getting my ass drug. If I can get a 145+ pull I'd be happy. Cat delete and downpipes, MAYBE headers should do the trick. Might get a 150!

You'll do fine. I was trapping higher than almost half of the cars there.

Difference between a mid 130s trap and a mid 140s trap....

It's my buddies Golf R and he ordered a downpipe and intercooler right after event, lol

Those cars are totally nuts. I watched the Alpha Omega GTR do 217mph a few years ago.

I got 150.3 mph at a half mile event, on ms109 no passenger. I was stoked. I was hanging right with brand new stingray corvettes, edged out a e85 335i, smoked a bunch of wrx's and evos. I was definitely laying down some dick.

Hell yeah man, that's awesome! I might just get my buddies GoPro and have a blast. APR is supposedly working on some good good stuff, hopefully it is out by September.

My goal is 150-155. Good to see the s4 hanging with the big dogs.

Maybe I'm interpreting it incorrectly, but were these rolling starts up until the double orange cones? I've seen a lot launch videos either DSG LC or 6MT clutch dumps and the GoPro's always shake a little when the tires hook, and this one didn't.

Typical Stage 1 will trap anywhere between 114-118mph and I've seen 104 OCT S4s trap 116-119mph, which makes the 1/2 mile run not so surprising. The S6 still has a lot of room for growth since downpipes or RS7 turbo upgrades are available.

Yup, that's what a lot of airstrip races do. They go up to like 40mph, make sure they're around neck-and-neck, then blast it at the cones. It's basically a way of equalizing AWD/FWD/RWD, since the launch is unimportant.

I had a passenger too, but S6 is still heavier. Based on other cars that were trapping 145-146mph and their known 1/4 mile traps, I was running with cars that typically trap around 120mph in the 1/4.

Nothing wrong with that S6.

I saw a Stage 1 S6 on Ms109 trap 124 last weekend.. in a DA around 1000ft.. so im not sure which you have seen.. unless they are in horrible conditions.. it shouldn't even be close.. owner probably had the car in stock programming.. my friend trapped 115 mph on his stock S6..

Edit.. that S6 was a Stage 2.. although he trapped 121-122 on Stage 1

You can see posts about what people are running, which is why I said the traps are all over the place with that car and that usually indicates conditions as being an issue. I'm sure they could ask the guy if anything was wrong but in the end the S4 held its own.

WannaGoFast is standing half mile and the couple Rs7s that were running were trapping 155ish, so I feel a 140-145 on race gas is doable.

Most 1/2mile strips that I have seen or been to have the cars start from a roll.

Well this S6 was on 100 octane, not 104. Furthermore, you can see that he pulled me through the 1/4 mile. It wasn't until after the 1/4 that I started to pull back on him. If he was on stock programming, he would have gotten pulled the whole run. My car has trapped as high as 114.7mph on 93 octane (even though my best E.T. was a 112.62mph trap). I was running MS109 and we know what Stage 2 cars running 104 can do trap speed wise.

BTW, that Golf R in the second video is a 112mph car and you can see what I did to him.
