Hi there,

Long time lurker here :) I can't seem to pinpoint what's going on with my car.

After a couple of miles (or kms) I get these errors. If I reset the codes, they come back after a few runs.

Anyone care to help out?

FIXED! UPDATE!

So while preparing to replace my injector and inspect the intake manifold for carbon build-up, I notied this piece that was leaking.

It's part of the brake system, it's a vaccum pump. It was leaking a lot. Had lots of oil on the radiator's return line.

I took it out with a Torx 30 wrench, albeit very diffcult to get to the screw underneath but it can be done without removing the entire bumper.

I've replaced both the O-ring and the gasket itself. Audi has since replaced this pump with a newer model but my pump, when turning it by hand, seem to work flawlessly.

This might not be the correct dimension, but I can't find the right part number since the gasket didn't come with a plastic bag and a part number.

Looks like you need to replace your O2 sensor. Since it's Bank 1 sensor 2, I believe that is the one downstream of the cat. Have you seen decreased fuel economy?

EDIT:

Just realized your posting scrolls! Anyway, the ABS will throw a code anytime the engine throws a code, so you can normally ignore that one. Looking at the injector code, the intake manifold runner code, and running too rich, I'm wondering if you've got that injector that has failed open or something, and the system cannot adjust the airflow to match. Some smarter guys will chime in though.

Trust me I am no expert. Ross-Tech's website has a lot of information on it too! I think you may have a faulty fuel injector, whether it's clogged with dirt or not. If you decide to change them, I'd advise also changing the fuel filter in case it is on its way out.

Also should mention that your Steering Angle sensor code probably is not an issue (I've had that occur out of the blue before), neither is the seatbelt igniter (unless it's bothering you) or the various alarm via tilt/door handle/etc.

is it possible that I fixed these multiple errors with a simple vaccum pump leak fix??? I pass all emission test now and also, more importantly, my service engine soon is gone and no more pending errors.

Since this is related to the vaccum is for the brakes, I'm unsure why they are related?

vacuum is what drives the power brakes, so if you've having vacuum issues your brakes might sense an error too.

A bit strange, but not unheard of. Probably a piece of dirt got lodged in and the injector could no longer work properly.

Wouldn't the Intake Manifold tuning valve control be the intake runners? I'm not sure what they are called by Audi but if they are, couldn't that point to carbon buildup? If so maybe the engine isn't getting as much air as the MAF thinks it is (by being choked) and is causing a rich condition? Maybe I just shooting in the dark... (probably)

If so maybe the engine isn't getting as much air as the MAF thinks it is (by being choked) and is causing a rich condition? Maybe I just shooting in the dark... (probably)

I actually did the valve cleaning with walnut blasting. Made a WORLD difference, car is so smooth now! (still didn't fix these issues, I wish it would have)

So this car doesn't have a MAF per say, it's a MAP (air pressure in the manifold).

today we changed the MAP sensor, no luck :\

car is running rich just sitting there idling. the lamba is reading -19% on bank 1. Sometimes misfire will occure when idling and then it just magically stops misfiring.

Seems that the only thing left is the throttle body control. Check that with VCDS on measuring blocks to make sure it is adapted and running the right range.

You mean re-adapt the throttle body? Would that affect only cylinder one?

I have the intake fully open right now and I have access to the injectors. I've disconnected all fuel rails and such. I have minimal carbon build-up on the valves. I'm open to try anything.

what's bothering me is that the fault is "intermitent" which mean it's happening just a few times. Once it reaches the limit, it will issue a service engine soon light with P0172 running to rich and the injector issue contribution/balance fault.

All i'm finding for this fault is that it's related to TDI engines.

Even the audi dealership's scam, ahem, I mean scan, is not showing anything for them. Timing is good, injectors are good, compression is good. Hey! Your car runs great but you are getting these errors, we have no clue why. We just told you your car runs great so give us 150$.
