Question about center Bore and Maching options*

I have a set of 3 pc Vellano wheels Specs as follow 20x8.5 et 25 F and 20x10 et 38 center bore 57.1. I would like to have the wheel bored out to 66.56 to fit my B8.5 and all machine the offset down from 25 to 30 in the front and 25 to 35 rear.. My question is, is it safe to machine 5mm in the front and 10 mm in the rear as well as boring out the center bore to fit the hub?

I would call a company that sells them or Vellano directly. I wouldn't trust anyone else.

Machining the bore out to the 66.56 should not be an issue, but I would not try to machine off 5/10mm of material to change the offset. I would be too concerned about metal fatigue and fracture because there is less metal supporting the the weight and stresses.

i think ill be ok to bore the center just enough for the hub lip to make it in, without running into any issues.. but curious if i have enough to shave the wheel hub down?

From the pics your going for looks not performance, so drive slow, and if shit starts scraping because a wheel falls off, call for a wrecker.

never that, This car will never see a wrecker. rather be safe than try to look good. If the wheels are not safe to mount, they simply won't go on and will be sold and i'll get a set that fits. but yea im going for looks once my car hit 10-15k miles i'll do performance mods. For now im just enjoying the car and making it look good

Those wheels look like there is a lot of meat there to machine...but I am no expert. How much material is between the bottom of the seat and the face?

The center bore work will probably be fine. Changing the offset is more complicated. Contact the manufacturer, and if possible, send it to them to do the work.

There may be a local shop that could do the bore to the correct size. I had this done on some wheels once, local wheel and tire shop did it them selves on a machine. I would be more concerned about changing the ET. That is something I would want to make sure the manufacturer says is ok to do. There is a lot of meet on there so may be ok. But worth checking with them first. You may find they use the same center piece on many wheels and do the exact same thing themselves.

The hub may be 4.5-5 inches thick, but you need to consider the thickness of the metal at the bottom of the lug nut seat. The wheel is only really being held on by that area and shaving the hub will reduce the thickness of that material.
