For anyone with AWE exhaust!

So I bought my awe exhaust May 5th 2015, I regularly cleaned the tips with soap and water! As time went by they got less and less shiner and harder to clean! Notified awe may 10 of 2016 since they have a lifetime warranty. After explaining What was happening and sending pictures, I did not hear back from them for two weeks. I contacted them today to see what the status was and they told me the tips only have 1 year warranty but the rest of the exhaust has a lifetime warranty. So since I am out of warranty by a whole month I would have to buy new tips and there is nothing they can do... If I had known I would of called back in January when the chrome started flaking off and tips turning yellow! Horrible customer service especially since I bought the exhaust new from them and had them install it, one would think they would give me new tips since I'm only out of warranty for a whole month! So for anyone with a awe exhaust that the tips are yellow or Chrome flaking off or if the tips are dull and pitted call before your one year warranty so you can try and get new ones since no where on the site does it say that the tips are not included in the lifetime warranty!!!

You would think they would just accept the flaw in their finish, fix it and replace them.

Exactly! Who knew the tips only had a 1 year warranty and not life time!! Doesn't mention it once on awe's website!

cleaning the tips with just soapy water isnt going to do the trick, there are products out there that will do a much much better job, with that said...

if there isnt anything documenting 1 year warranty on the tips, then take them to task and bring them to court, i highly doubt you will for many obvious reasons, but just saying.

Definitely a shitty situation considering the price etc of awe. With that being said check out the new tips from ecs. They are double walled and look great, a little expensive though.

Yea you would think so after spending 3k plus for exhaust plus install. Just trying to help out other audizine peeps that might be having the same problem as me!

I would ceramic coat the tips that might help!! And remember 10 months from now if the chrome coating is coming off contact them! I'm sure they will prolong the process.... so that way you will be within the 1 year warranty!

Just watch the finish and get them replaced within a year if they start failing.

Even those with professional cleaning products had the finish fail so I imagine they must be aware of the issue. (Hell, why else would they only offer a year warranty on them vs the lifetime for everything else?)

I would ask them to give a 1 year warranty on the new tips as well just incase they fail!! Exactly why they don't advertise anywhere on there site that the tips only have a 1 year warranty and not life time!

The black ones are worse, but my silver tips aren't doing terribly well. That said I use polish every week so it's eating the Chrome a bit.

Just can't let crapola get stuck and left for a long time.

I haven't cleaned my tips at all in the nearly 1 year, I have owned my exhaust probably should go do that eventually

The finish on my AWE 90mm silver tips is deteriorating as well. I only used soap and water per AWE's recommendations but obviously that was not sufficient. I started using Nevr Dull and it does a good job at maintaining the current condition of the tips, but unfortunately there are some spots too far gone to polish out.

BTW you won't be the first person that AWE has told to take a hike.

Caked on carbon isn't the problem. Problem is the chrome came completely off and it's dull and yellow now...

Allow me hop in here and begin by apologizing about this situation -- truly. The exhaust tips are indeed what are visible on the vehicle and should look as signature as the soundtrack being played from your exhaust.

For one I am not sure who you corresponded with, but a two week wait on a response is very hard to fathom... but I can guarantee I will get to bottom of this as it is simply unacceptable. Was it by email? Did you try calling? I do not have any PMs from you unfortunately so I do not have anything to reference. Another point -- being denied for being only one month out of warranty is also something that doesn't sound correct. We do work with our customers as much as we can, and can whole-heartedly say that we don't tell individuals to "take a hike."

With that said, please PM me your information so I can contact you directly via e-mail myself, or e-mail me directly via [email protected] and let's get this squared away. Please have the aforementioned images you submitted before on-hand and ready to provide to me as this is a general requirement.

Exactly! Who knew the tips only had a 1 year warranty and not life time!! Doesn't mention it once on awe's website!

For the record, the one year warranty on tip finishes is published in various places -- on our website (under "exclusions") and in the installation instructions as well.

my tips get dirty so quickly with this car i gave up trying to keep them shiny and just keep them dull black. they kind of blend in and look like nothing while sounding awesome. I'm ok with that.

Most Definitely agree! The system is the best sounding in my opinion, but the tip issue is so annoying. Had paint chip on my diamond black tips only after a year. A good solution is to just powder coat them. They won't look chrome, but the chrome colored powder I chose matches nicely with my silver wheels and mirror caps.

If you choose to get your tips powder coated I would highly recommend sealing them (used Carbon Collective Platinum Wheels) but was impatient and didn't let it cure completely. The outside tips look great, but the inside one are almost entirely black. I'll have to take them off to thoroughly clean them.

$60 for the service to never encounter chipping again is a good deal to me even if they aren't the shiny chrome look
