Proper Wheel size for 2010 A6 Quattro

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    HI,
I have been reading and doing some research on wheels for my A6. Different websites show different offsets for wheels.
What is the correct offset for the 2010 A6?

    Need 4 Speed Motorsports has the Avant Garde M510 wheel in a 19" x 8.5" +35mm offset and a +45mm offset.
For the M580, they only sell it in the 19" x 8.5 +35mm offset
Are there rubbing issues with the +35mm offset?

I have seen some people go with 9.5" wide wheels, but they are not listed for the 2010 A6 3.0t Quattro.

    Thanks for your input.

Depending on the year and trim level of the car, wheel size will vary. The most common wheels size was 19X8.5 and offset would vary between +38 thru +45.
That being said, an offset of +35 will not rub. If you are lowered, it would be close but should not rub. I run +32 on a 19X8.5 and had some minor rubbing on the inner liner. I am lowered so I cambered the rear wheels in -2.5 degrees and no more rub.

Trim level is the Prestige model. I plan on lowering the car, but new to the Audi garage, so not sure yet who makes lowering springs or coil overs. I do not want to negative camber the wheels to prevent rubbing.

    Lowering options are

    Coils:
    ST
    KW V series
    H&R

    Springs:
    H&R
    Eibach

With a modest drop, an offset of +35 should be fine as long as you don't go above a 255 wide tire.

I have essentially the same car as you and I'm not slammed but my car is pretty low. I run 19x8.5 et 38 with no issues at all, but check out the wheel/suspension thread. People have run all kinds of setups and that should give you a decent idea of what different setups will look/ride like

I run 20x9 et37 245/35/20 and I rub on turns when I hit bumps. I'm pretty low at 1 finger gap all around

Someone correct me if I am wrong, it has been a while since I looked into this - but they don't make adj. control arms for the C6, so if you lower, you will add neg. camber and the front cannot be adjusted.
A little neg. camber is actually good for corner grip - it is the toe that will eat your tires alive if the the neg. camber is present. (Pro-tip: set toe to 0'. The steering will be a tad touchier and will have more difficulty tracking straight on highways, but handles better and saves lots of rubber $$)

    As for myself:
    Wheel Specs:
    19x8.5 +38 with 255/19/35
    H&R Springs:
Good quality // stock like ride quality // better cornering. At OEM spec (rear) camber I would rub over speedbumps and when hitting dips at speed when alone. If I had people or luggage in the car there was nothing I could do to not rub when hitting small dips // **Would still recommend**
    ST Coils:
25 7/8" FTG [F] / 26" FTG [R] - Compared to HRSp, LOWER (idk) in front, .125" HIGHER in rear
Ride quality improved from H&R Springs (due to matched dampening rate, I assume) // I rub 0-5% of time solo and RARELY w/ 4 people (i did opt to adj rear camber, but only to like -1.9 (squared with my front, so not much at all). Although, I do rub while turning through dips at speed (front) on occation and was prone to laying the front bumper on the ground before understanding my height // **my preference from experience - would DEFINITELY recommend**

If you decide to go this route, I would be happy to give you some pointers for the ST's.

The C6 does not have an aftermarket option for adjustable control arms. There is a bushing kit from KMAC that has an off center hole that allows some camber correction based on how the bushing is positioned in the control arm.

YURP. Looked into it - didn't think it was worth the $350ish+labor, plus idk how much of a correction they offer.
