I enrolled in Progressive's snap Shot service partly due because I feel like I am a very safe driver and want that reflected in my bill. Partly because I don't care if they track where I go, when I go, how often I go, what speeds I go, how many miles I go, etc.
When my program was up, I saved 28% out of the maximum 30% discount. So it was well worth it in my opinion. And for the record, I feel I would have earned the full 30% if I didn't have to stop suddenly for police officers flying at me in my lane and having to slam on my brakes to avoid a collision with a moose in Mass over the holiday weekend! Oh well, not going to complain about the 2% loss.
Has anyone else seen similar results and success?
I know there are very wide thoughts about how intrusive these things can be and how much of this data should really be shared with insurance companies. But I love it. I say let the shitty drivers pay more for car insurance and don't punish those of us who are good drivers, who are always thinking 2 steps ahead, etc. Imight the future, we might see more insurance companies go this route and may require a similar device to be installed which would be very interesting.
Anywho, pretty positive experience and I'm glad my good driving and my lack of driving many miles paid off for me which is nice to see and nice for my wallet.
