2013 34k miles in need of new rear rotors/pads

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Stealership claims I'm at 3mm on rear pads. Car has 34k miles.

I don't feel much of a lip on the rotors and they don't appear warped but I've always made it a practice 2 replace pads + rotors at the same time.

Anybody have any OEM rear rotors & pads BNIB or the like?

If not what does everyone go with for aftermarket...looking for just as good as stock if not slightly better, but also don't wanna spend a ton of coin!

    Pic for attention.

    Thanks.

3mm at rear is pretty hard to believe... My car is at 36k and just got front rotors and all pads changed. Front pads were at 4mm and rear were at 7mm. My front rotors were indeed worn though, rear rotors were fine. I went with ECS rotors since that was what my shop had. But if the width is written on the service packet I'd probably get them checked cause brakes could kill you or save you.

3 mm is low...I'm at roughly 32k and I'm down to 7 mm. I would question what they told you and maybe get a second opinion

Forgot to mention...These ******s at the stealership also told me my tire tread was low, I think they stated about 1/4 tread. Funny thing is the tires (Conti DW) are literally brand new w 500mi on them. I got super shitty with them about it. Gave them a horrible review for that and some other bad customer service issues they had. Their GM was supposed 2 call me "tomorrow" but that was last Monday ;-)

I will be checking my rear brakes this weekend because I don't trust a word they say. I checked all fluids including oil the second I got home from the dealership. I'm so pissed about their shit customer service u guys don't even know, trying not to use the post as an outlet for it.

Are you leasing or keeping car long term?

If you're planning on keeping, I ended up bringing it to a good independent shop and went with aftermarket setup with better braking power and low-zero brake dust. You're probably needing to replace them soon, I replaced at around 40K.
I paid just a touch more for a complete replacement at a indy shop, versus what dealership was charging just to replace one pair.
I went with the Stoptech drilled rotors, and Hawk HPS 5.0 Brake pads and love it. Plus the wheels stay super clean, doesn't turn black in 2 days.

Not leasing, keeping long term. I just have a problem believing that my rears r at 3mm. I can replace rotors and pads myself, not going to pay a shop for that crap lol

Zimmerman discs and Pagid or Mintex pads (these brands are OEM). If you want less dust (but with less initial "grab") get Akebono pads. You don't have to replace the discs with new pads, unless they are in bad shape.

Mine has 43k miles and my pads are still at almost 50%... I can't see how yours can be that used..

My rear pads have historically worn out faster than my fronts on both my B5 A4 and my B8 S4. It doesn't make sense, but they seem to. According to the pad they showed me, the interior pad is what wore out.
I got ceramic pads and a new (solid) rotor on ECS, and then paid $250 for the labor.... saved $200 over dealership. I had the labor done at the dealership.

I'm running Akebono's with Bendix rotors from Rockauto on my rear. The cost was less than 140 for everything shipped to my door, works great.

I spend a little more on my fronts for rotors but who cares about the rear imo.
