Audi A7 3.0T Exhaust noise when I left off the the gas.

Hi guys I am getting a crazy rattle noise when I let off of the accelerator. It almost sound like a heat shield, but the dealer has since ruled that out. They claim it's the downpipes in the exhaust. Has anyone else had this issue?

If I spend $$$$ to replace downpipes, I rather get a new cat back exhaust. Any recommendations would be a big help.

Are you hearing it while driving or when parked with a quick jab to the accelerator? These cars make a funny "sizzle" noise when you jab the accelerator and let off while parked, but no such noise should be heard when driving.

I get a similar noise sometimes on deceleration when going slow in my drive way or in a parking lot. I tend to like it so I haven't raised the issue with the dealer. I get a slight exhaust rattle when starting up cold, it goes away within 45 seconds or so.

Rev the car at 1400-1500rpm and see if its present when keeping it at those rpms...

You're right localbrew. I get it on deceleration in driveways and going down small streets. The dealer says it's the down pipe after the cat. I spoke with some tuning shops today and they said the A4, A6 & A7 has been having the issue because they use the same cat and downpipes. Not sure how true it is but he wasn't surprised by the noise.

I only hear it when I let off the gas. If I hit the gas slightly, sometimes I can hear it. But I always hear it in small spaces on deceleration.

I have the same exact issue at the same rpm range you guys mention. Looking forward to fixing it... really annoying.

Same issue at 1400rpms. Dealer said it was downpipes. Dealer refused to fix under warranty. Seemed like less of a problem after replacing exhaust system (AWE touring) after downpipes. Left it alone since then and haven't noticed it while driving.

Same here Swope. My dealer said it was the downpipes after the cat. He said if I get a new cat back exhaust that would fix the issue. (AWE) here I come.

Anybody get this figured out? I have an aftermarket exhaust yet still have the rattle.
