I'm looking to adjust my shift linkage as I recently discovered that getting into reverse in my car takes slightly more effort/not as smooth as a friend's B8 S4.
I have performed a B8 STS install and removal before and am familiar with adjusting shift linkages, both with and without the use of an angle measure.
The main point of adjustment is the position of the linkage clamp on the linkage rod(lower adjustment bolt, located down underneath shifter base) obviously has the largest effect over shifter adjustment. Does anybody know what this bolt(see picture) adjusts?
Postion of yellow-boxed bolt seems to be adjusting the fore --> aft position of the entire shifter base, but what does that actually affect in terms of the relationship between position of the shift stick and position of linkage on top of trans? It seems I can achieve a well adjusted shifter, that readily accesses all gears, from any position of the yellow bolt in the slot but the shifter feel does vary slightly.
Please don't tell me to leave it in the yellow bolt in the stock position and forget about it because that ship has already sailed. I know this is a pretty technical question to ask, I greatly appreciate the help!
