    B5 A4 F21 Tune Problem

    Hi all,

I have a 2001 A4 Quattro (Engine code AWM). I got a kit for the F21L that came with the injectors, bigger TIP, Manifold, and a C2NER tune flaher from C2 motorsports. When I plug in the tuner from C2, and go to select the vehicle version, I see engine codes from European Market cars, AJL, BFB, BEX, etc. The guys at C2 told me that these should have the same permissions level and not cause any issues when reading the stock ECU file or flashing a new file on.

That being said, I cannot get the stock ECU file to read. At first I thought it was a K-CAN Network issue, as I know it's a prevalent issue on this car. I do have an aftermarket radio, but I checked the VCDS guide to avoiding this issue and I have it all correct. The K line is not hooked up to anything at all. I can VAG-COM my car without issue, and have done so plenty of times. I tried pulling fuses for the common K CAN culprits (Cluster, Climate, Locking, ABS). When I pulled my ABS fuse, I got a bit further than normal but it still errored out.

My worry now is that my ECU is bad. I took a look and it doesn't look like it's been fussed with (nothing soldered on). Has anyone ever experienced this issue? Anyone have insight? My engine is all put back together with nice new parts to ahve fun with and no tune to do it :(

    Pic for attention:

    Bump/Update:

I opened up the ECU and found it did in fact have one of those stupid APR chips soldered in. I went on Ebay and bought a "new" ECU from the same car (same part number, engine code, transmission and drivetrain) and plugged it in, and the C2NER tune flasher refuses to read the stock file. I can VAGCOM and read codes fine, I don't think this is an issue with the K CAN network. Does anyone have input that might help? I really just want my car to run again.

Hmm, I wonder if it has something to do with the Euro B5's having immobilizers? This seems like something they should be working with you on

Here's an interesting question, is there a difference between ME7.5 and ME7.5.5? My ECUs are both ME7.5 but the tune flasher is showing ME7.5.5.

Ian Nelson (Reflect Tuning ) is the best person to talk to regarding an ecu tuning issue. He is also one of the most economical as well. I'm sending my ecu out right now for a stg 2 ko4 tune for my Passat. Loved the stg 1 k03 tune on it.
